Bistro 17 — Restaurant in Hilton Head Island

This place was horrible!!! I ordered a steak with sides, when I got it it was waaaayyyy over done and honestly didn’t even look like steak, it also was missing one of the sides I ordered. I very kindly requested another steak and pointed out that I did not get all the sides I ordered. It took a long time for my second steak to arrive, it still didn’t have all the sides I ordered, again it didn’t even look like a steak (it looked like pork??) AND it was COLD in the middle!!! It’s honestly lucky that I didn’t end up with food poisoning.

Also, me and my family sat outside and there was a guitarist that was singing and playing music for the restaurant, not only was his singing pretty awful but at one point he CATCALLED two women who where walking by!!! Definitely stay away from this...

My husband and I enjoyed meals at Bistro several times, but had a very bad experience yesterday. I ordered the ribeye and pomme frites, but when the fries were dropped off I immediately noticed a large black hair on the fries. I pointed it out the hair while she was still dropping off everyone’s plates. She said okay, and picked up the fries. She returned with fresh fries, but acted like it was a common occurrence. She never apologized, told a manager, or offered anything. As someone who waited tables for six years throughout high school and college, I would have been falling all over myself to rectify the situation and ensure the customer knew this was not the norm. I was appalled at the lack of customer service...

I think most people will like the food here. For my wife and I, we just were not blown away. Everything we ordered just seemed to be underseasoned. All I can think of is they are tailoring the food to an older customer who may not like salt, butter, wine,garlic,etc.. I don't think this is classified as a French restaurant But it seems to have some inspiration in some of their dishes. Fine French food has a very deep flavor profile with A very pleasing presentation. Sometimes chefs over present to compensate for lack of flavor Or food quality. The location and ambience of the restaurant is fantastic overlooking the water and boats. Would definitely go back for drinks and maybe try it again with Just...
