Arrived in HHI after 5+ hours driving thru terrific rain storms. Exhausted from the trip we decided to go out & eat instead of preparing dinner @ home. We wanted something more "original" than the Fast Food Restaurants generally offered. We chose Il C.R. The place was packed. I thought we would have a waiting time to be seated (I hate that) BUT We were greeted immediately by a energetic smiling bald Italian & sat us (5pers) without delay. The waitress also greeted us smiling & after introducing herself we ordered our drinks. The Italian menu 4-5 pages was chocked full of selection and tasty dinner for all. Selected Pasta with Clams. I advised her of my Sodium problem & she noted down my particulars. Ambient European dining room made me feel like I was in Italy! Contrary to other places, this place was not freezing cold, but pleasantly heated! The sound of others in this packed area were not terribly loud whereas we were able to chat together. Service and area impeccable. Bustling workers and great Wine selection. The pleasant aromas of food being immediately prepared, fantastic. I We'll...

What used to be an island staple for decades has gone severely downhill. Service was extremely slow. They only appeared to have one waitress for the whole restaurant and two others helping with busing running food and seating people. The Caesar salad was the worst I have ever had. It had absolutely no flavor. They claim its homemade dressing but I’ve had better store bought dressing. It literally had no taste. It was a cream base, but had No garlic, lemon, nothing. I got the veal gorgonzola which was supposed to be a red wine reduction, but it was more of just like a gravy with cheese. Thankfully, the veal was cooked perfectly so I was able to semi enjoy it. Then when I finally got the bill, I had to ask for the salad to be removed because literally it was inedible and i sent it back right away. I’ve been in f&b years so I hate to send food back. Very disappointing for what used to be a local hideaway for decades with classic Italian dishes

The only thing that didnt disappoint was the tiramisu. So at least they can still...

We were driving by and made a decision in a last minute to have dinner here for our last night in HHI. It was a huge mistake and it ruined our evening. The restaurant was cleaned. I ordered soup and it was an okay soup. The main entrees we ordered the veggie pizza and my hubby vegetarian pasta, the young men Spanish server who brought bread to our table, fast forward approximately 25 minutes later my pizza was served, but hubby’s pasta wasn’t, so the server said one minute, but the 1 minute turned to 25 minutes (total of 50 minutes of waiting ), and I’m almost finished eating my pizza. Anyway, to make long bad experience short. You just don’t bring one entree and bring the other entree 25 minutes later. The servers need to slow down to make the ambience relaxing. You’re all running around like the chicken head cut-off. By the way I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to write on this one because it was such a bad experience. The managements or the owner need to re-train the servers to training 101! We will not be...

I am a regular at this restaurant. It’s Old time Italian, nothing fancy. Great food at very reasonable prices! Today I had the real scallopini with eggplant covered in mozzarella cheese with tomatoes, olive oil and wine sauce. Where can you get a veal dish for $14 at lunch. And they have 10 items priced under $12 which includes salad and bread. I took the photo after I had been eating for a little while. All their portions are generous. And I’ve heard that’ the pizza is delicious here.

If you have been looking for authentic italian, this is it. Best in the region. Everything we had was fantastic. There is definitely a wait, but it was well worth it. The spaghetti al ragu was amazing, and the talk of all the regulars. Great cozy feel, they even have an authentic pizza oven imported from Italy in view of the cusomers. The lemon sorbet was the best I have ever had. Definitely make a reservation if you don't want to wait too long...but don't miss this absolute gem.
