Top 3 worst restaurant experiences that I have ever had. We came for lunch about 20 minutes after they opened. We were the first table in there. There were a couple people at the bar and playing the digital games. It took almost 10 minutes for the waitress to greet us. We should have left after the obvious signs. She brought our drinks and took our appetizer order for blue cheese chips and cheese sticks. The waitress came back to say they were out of cheese sticks. Ok, it happens. Then she comes out with an order of cheese sticks and says this is the last one. Ok, miscommunication between her and the kitchen. We give our lunch order. Kids corn dog, a cheeseburger, and a chicken philly. Still waiting for the chips. Lunch gets delivered, 2 corn dogs and a chicken philly. I tell her to cancel the chips and she had no idea what I was talking about. Later after thinking about it I wonder if she heard 2 cheese sticks instead of blue cheese chips. Could be. I don't know. Now I remind her that we only ordered 1 corn dog and my other son ordered a cheeseburger. She blames the kitchen for making it wrong. Mind you she delivered the food and should have noticed that the order was wrong. She says it won't take long. Goes back to the kitchen and comes back out to verify that she checked and the ticket was correct and the cooks screwed up. I am getting tired of the excuses and problems at this point. They both ordered mac n cheese as their sides so my son who is missing food takes the others mac so he can start eating with us. We can give the one mac back when the rest of the food comes. He takes a bite and pushes it aside. The other kid tries it and does the same. So I try it and it is horrid. It was absolute mush for noodles and the cheese sauces was vile. It managed to taste bad and be tasteless at the same time. Now the cheeseburger finally comes out. It is a kids meal but my 13 year old son just ordered a single burger so this is tiny and not enough food for him. I don't even bother to mention this at this point. I try out my meal. The fries are fine but the chicken on the philly is like canned chicken but dried out. It is shredded and tastes awful. Again, not even worth the mention at this point. Waitress comes back and I ask for the check. She offers boxes and we decline. She doesn't even enquire about my food which has a single bite taken out of it and we are trying to leave. Then she drops the check. Icing on the cake 2 corn dogs are rung in. Liar and a bad waitress. I made excuses for her along the way but this was the last straw. What a garbage restaurant. Terrible food, bad service, no atmosphere. Only 1 other table came in the entire time we were there. Sunday lunch in Hiram is busy everywhere. This okace was a ghost town. Apparently the rest of Hiram already learned better than to come here. I should have listened to my gut after the 10 minute greet and left to go somewhere else. Now I am out $45 and 2out of 3 of us are still hungry....
Read moreI keep coming back to this spot because I really like their food. The chicken tenders are soooooo good, but the service is sub par. My husband, son and I went to enjoy a bite to eat, some drinks and Keno yesterday evening. We sat in the bar area at a table so we could see the Keno board. It took a while for anyone to approach us (even though there was one other table in the bar area, about 3 people seated at the bar and one table sitting outside the bar area) in the restaurant.
We put in our drink order, and my son asked for pink lemonade. The bartender told us that they did not have pink lemonade, but offered to put a mixer in to make cherry lemonade (super sweet of her, but my son is really picky, so he opted for plain lemonade). Our server finally made it to our table (about 12 min after sitting down) and took our order. She seemed a little standoffish, but was nice.
We both had burgers (asked for well done) and ordered chicken tenders appetizer for my son. The chicken tenders didn't disappoint (whatever seasoning they use is delicious!) but the burgers were a little burnt. I understand I asked for well done, but I feel these were a little over done. Still tasty, just slightly overdone. It took a while for our food to arrive as well, even though the other table in the bar area already had their food (not sure about the table outside the bar - that had 4 people seated).
Our server did not come back to our table much (my husband ordered an alcoholic beverage) to check on us, despite there being so few people in the establishment. My son asked for water, and the bartender gave him some water, which I thought was nice since she looked like her shift had ended. It took our server a while to return so when she finally did, my husband asked for another alcoholic drink and the tab. When she returned, she did not ask if we needed drinks to go (another server asked the table right next to us if they would like drinks to go) which I thought would have helped my service rating.
I also wanted to mention that there was another lady sitting at a table folding napkins who kept coughing (she was doing a "Dracula cough" - coughing into the bend of her arm) and also would cough into her hand, or even out into the open and didn't wash her hands.
I have been to this restaurant/bar quite a few times and have not seen any of the bartenders/servers there before, so they possibly are all new or perhaps weren't there the last time we went (which has been about 4 months). I wish the service was better because I really enjoy the...
Read moreThis was our first time going to The Place. Based off other reviews and food offerings we were pretty excited to give them a try. Unfortunately our experience did not leave a good initial impression.
The restaurant was not packed when we arrived, the hostess asked us to give her a minute before seating us, she ultimately disappeared and we were sat by the manager.
After looking over the menu and deciding what to order, I realized our drink order had not been taken yet. It seemed to take a while for our waitress to even come to our table.
Fast forward, finally got our drinks and appetizer and entrée orders taken. Although we didn't time our wait, around 20 minutes our drinks were empty and we still had no food. Our waitress had not checked on us again either. We flagged down the manager who filled our drinks and explained the kitchen was backed up.
Eventually our food started coming out, first we got one of our appetizers, before that was finished 3 of our 4 entrées came out. We had to ask about our second appetizer. The fourth entree did not show up until everyone was just about done eating.
Our service seemed to improve a little after talking with the manager about our drinks.
The food was decent for the price. The second appetizer came with the wrong dipping sauce, cocktail sauce and nachos do no go together well. Overall though the food was edible but didn't leave much amazement to be had.
Had the service been better this review may not even exist as I typically don't bother with them. I felt the number of high reviews is misleading hence why I decided to share...
