Knowing that people were taken advantage of and scammed leaves a bad taste in my mouth and have not even tried the food. Powder Springs residents don't tolerate unscrupulous, scam tactics to get a business open. Owners addressed reviews where PS residents called them out for not paying the contractor and they labeled it cyber bulling YET they never addressed the claim with a commitment to pay this man for building a beautiful space. Many of these reviews calling for boycott are from actual residents of PS who are committed to supporting businesses that open with a purpose and passion to serve the community - not scam contractorss just to get the doors open. The place looks great. Shame on the owner for even attempting to open their doors under scandalous conditions and knowing that you owed a man money who has to feed his family. This type of behavior is toxic and poisonous. It will impact the quality and intention of all activity going forward, including and not limited to THE FOOD AND SERVICE. Even if the owner(s) decide to do the right thing, I will encourage others NEVER to patronize scammers that come to the area and prey off people. Powder Springs may be small but the intelligence level and quality of people is anything but. A small crab business opened last year in PS - also amidst toxicity and unscrupulous behaviors to get the doors open. Karma is swift these days. Do the right thing and pay the man immediately, commit to serving good food AND good portions commensurate with price and you might be able to survive. But you must first do the...
Read moreThe place has GREAT potential but fell short with the food. I had my dinner planned for a week. My friends and I were meeting to celebrate a birthday. The menu had me drooling. I planned to order the red snapper, jollof rice and mixed veggies. I asked the server if the snapper was served escovitch style. She replied yes. I received a tomato based covered snapper. While the fish was cooked perfectly, the sauce wasn't what I expected and I didn't enjoy it. My order didn't come out correctly, as I ordered the plantain but was given fried yam. The rice was just 🤷🏾♀️, plantain was a bit oily, and you read about the fish. Drinks were lacking but the bar tender did advise that she was new. She also served as our server and was wonderful!!! We met the owner because none of our orders were as expected. The tilapia was fried so hard my friends couldn't bit into it. One friend had to purchase good sheet we left because her good was inedible.
We promised to come back. Prayerful, the owner gets the staff he needs and can turn things around because there's NOTHING like this close by. Business is really slow but the place is truly a vibe! Just need cooks who are consistent and experienced bar mates. Everything else...
Read moreI want to give 3.5 stars but that’s not an option. On one hand - the food is pretty good. We ordered: Oxtail pepper soup (pictured), Suya, Jollof rice with goat meat, Meat pie. Total about $70 bucks. All meats were well seasoned and tender which is a plus. I only have a picture of the pepper soup because I was so shocked with the lack of actual soup when I opened it I had to take a picture and send to my Nigerian mother. For $28 I expected to get more than 3 or 4 spoonfuls of liquid- the bowl was barely a quarter of the way filled. I’m fine with the amount of oxtail that came with it, but it was just barely any soup to consume, so that was pretty disappointing. Second - I placed my order over the phone and the first question I asked was if the meat pie had potatoes, carrots or onions in it and the waitress replied “only onions” well when I bit into it - it was only carrots. Thankfully I’m not allergic, but I wouldn’t have ordered it if I knew there were carrots in it. Jollof rice was just “ok” and there was only 2 small pieces of goat meat included. Generally I think the portions sizes are a bit small for the price, but at least the food...
