My wife and I utilized Catchy Cafe for Catering for a birthday event. While the menu was nice with lots of appealing options, we ran into a brutal issue once we picked up the food, this place does not understand how to do catering..........
In the past, when we have done catering, you order the food, pick it up, and maybe you need to heat the food for 5 minutes for your guests to arrive. The problem is, Catchy catering is actually a meal prep service. The food I picked up was legitimately raw and requires a kitchen and extensive cooking. I have never seen this ever from a catering place. Isn't the point of catering for it to be ready?
The shrimp raw, the steak, only seared and not cooked, pasta cooked, but store bought (clearly) and sauce had to be mixed in separately. The tacos not put together and were crackers, not tacos.
Pure catastrophe. While the food (when WE cooked it), was okay, nothing to rave over considering the cost, it was not worth the aggravation and tediousness. If we didn't have a kitchen, we would have been screwed since everything needed meal prep and time to cook.
Due to the way this was handled (we were not told this was required prior to placing the order), we can't recommend for Catering. Please seek services elsewhere.
This is a follow-up to what the owner of catchy posted below: As the public can see, the owner is unable to handle constructive criticism, which is very unbecoming of an establishment.
Had the owner told my wife and I that a server would be required for her catering, we would have politely declined. Instead, she took the order, told me nothing about the food requiring extensive work to be completed on the customer's end and when I called for help the day of, they said, and I quote, "I am very busy, can't talk right now." Somehow they weren't busy enough to run my credit card and take the payment though. This is not the way one does business. Catchy catering is meal prep, NOT catering, be extremely wary, as I said. If you don't have a kitchen, you will not be able to eat your food. We have tried 4 other caterers in Bergen County, all of which had the food ready to go for when we picked it up, nothing else required.
Catchy should own up to this and tell customers with a disclaimer that food will not be ready at time of pickup.
Thanks to all that read this review, and happy to contact for more info. Good day Catchy, thanks for taking this to the next level with your...
Read moreWe were fortunate to work with Catchy for our 210-person wedding.
Two things set Catchy apart for us. First is their genuine desire to win our business and accommodate our busy schedules for tastings (it’s shocking to me that many caterers we talked to don’t seem to care…). Second was the commitment to making the food we serve our guests memorable, unlike the inflexible conveyor belt vendors that play in this space; we cared less about this second piece going ahead, but it ended up being a very nice-to-have.
Catchy’s ridiculously tasty appetizers are what differentiate them from the rest (the coconut shrimp and ahi tuna bites are two of my favorites), and the entrees were on par with that high bar. But the real pièce de résistance was the ice cream cake the team made us. 90% of wedding cake is eaten out of a sense of obligation or convenience (source: my observation), so we wanted to go a different route, and my wife and I are long-time fans of ice cream cake. Since our wedding a few weeks back, multiple folks told me they stole other folks’ ice cream cake from their seats so that they could get seconds or that they stuffed pound cake wrapped in napkins into designer purses for late-night snacking.
There are cheaper options, sure, but among great vendors of different price points, it comes down to getting what you pay for, and Catchy is a terrific option for catering small, medium, or large events where high-quality food is an important...
Read morePLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE A NUT ALLERGY.
Catchy Cafe is not a nut-allergy friendly restaurant. I had ordered from here via ubereats. One person in my order has a nut/avocado allergy and had ordered the Skinny Caesar Salad with clarifications of no nuts and avocados even though the salad does not include these items. We had hoped that this note would encourage stronger safety practices and prevent any possible cross contamination of surfaces/utensils. After eating about a third of the salad, the person had noticed an allergic reaction that kept increasing leading to a trip to the emergency room. It was found that it was in reaction to nuts.
Upon calling the restaurant, the cafe has noted that they utilize many nuts with their foods inclusive of peanuts, walnuts, and pecans. They had also claimed that they clean their surfaces to try to prevent contamination.
If you have a nut allergy at all, please do not order from...
