El Jimador delivers solid, Jalisco-style Mexican food with affordability and flavor. It’s not fine dining, but that’s not the point. It’s about big tastes, big portions, and dependable service in a relaxed atmosphere.
El Jimador has very generous portions. Giant burritos, flavorful molcajetes, camarones a la plancha, and classic combination plates. The food includes authentic touches like charro beans, house-made salsas, and sizzling fajitas that stand out for their flavor and presentation with a Southeastern New Mexico twist.
In terms of value for money, El Jimador out performs most chain restaurants in the area. Prices are consistently lower which makes dining out feel like less of a splurge.
The drinks and atmosphere also earn high marks. The micheladas are huge, and the bar strikes a good balance of lively, but not overwhelmingly loud. You can actually hold a conversation across the table without yelling, thanks to a music volume that’s calibrated for comfort.
Service is another strong point. Fast and friendly. Servers are attentive, orders come out quickly, and to-go packaging is neatly prepared and complete.
Be aware, though. This isn’t a fine-dining establishment. Don’t go in expecting upscale décor or gourmet presentation. El Jimador is casual, cozy, and focused on good food in a relaxed environment.
El Jimador caters exactly to what it advertises in a solid, affordable Mexican food with a fun bar vibe. You won’t get refined eats, but you will get hearty meals, generous drinks, and a wallet-friendly experience. For locals and travelers who appreciate flavor without frills, this is a dependable win.
Go during off-peak hours if you want a quieter vibe.
Don’t skip the drinks—people love the micheladas and margaritas.
Try the molcajete at lunch or dinner. It’s the best thing I’ve ever ordered.
El Jimador isn’t aiming for Michelin stars. It wants to fill your plate and your glass with tasty value, and it nails it. If that’s your speed, it’s a solid...

Toward the end she didn't come back to our table. Had to tell her as she walked by for boxes. There were 5 of us and she added a grad on our total. I asked for it to be taken off due to the horrible service. She got mad and said we needed the money more than her and went on and added to say seriously these kinda people. Was arguing the me the whole time. Didn't take no account ability for how rude she was and was being when i told her. We were completely shocked 😲 still left her 20 dollars. It wasn't about the tip its about customer service and earning it. first time here...
