First time at Maria Bonita Mexican Grill in Hobbs and I was honestly impressed. We started with their complimentary Sopa de Fideo, which hit the spot—light tomato broth with thin noodles, super homey and comforting.

We ordered the Costras (basically tacos with crispy cheese shells) stuffed with bistec and pastor—absolute fire. That shell alone was worth the hype: crunchy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Then came the Nachos Maria Bonita, fully loaded with all the good stuff—melted cheese, seasoned meat, fresh pico, jalapeños—the works.

But the showstopper? The Parrillada de Carnes. It’s a massive all-meat platter with carne asada, grilled chicken, and chorizo, plus rice, beans, grilled onions, and tortillas. Perfect for sharing or just going full carnivore mode.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The staff was kind and attentive, and the vibe inside was relaxed but lively. You can tell they take pride in their food.

Definitely recommend if you’re craving real Mexican food with bold flavors and big portions. Will be coming back for those Costras,...

My husband and I were in Hobbs for the day so stopped here for lunch. It was very busy but we were able to get seated right away.

While reviewing this I have to remind myself that this isn’t Tex-Mex like we are used, so while it was different, the food was still good.

Instead of serving chips and salsa they serve you a bowl of soup, I believe it’s Fideo. It was good but we would have preferred chips and salsa.

I ordered the Birria tacos with a baked potato and charro beans. The tacos were full of meat. I didn’t care for the beans because my bowl had 2 large fat pieces and I wasn’t expecting the hot dogs cut up in them so I didn’t really get to try them.

My husband got the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. While he said that they were good the chicken didn’t have much flavor but it was moist. The green sauce was hot, which he loves, but I didn’t try it. He tried the side of grilled cactus…..interesting to see that on the menu. He wasn’t a fan but if you like cactus it was probably tasty.

Overall, the place was nice, service was fast, and...

The food and service is absolutely great. We've been here several times and we are never disappointed. The staff is friendly and they always have smiles as they work, which is not something you see very often these days. Our server, Judith, was awesome!

When they bring your drinks, they also bring you consomé, a very tasty broth. This time we ordered a caldo de camarón (shrimp soup), bean and cheese burrito w/fries from the kid's menu, and elote. Yum!

The table already has a variety of bottles of hot sauces, but they still bring out their homemade red and green sauces. If you like to add some spiciness to your food, you are going to love these. The green sauce is made from jalapenos and the red is made from árbol chiles. They both are amazingly flavorful and...
