I will start with saying the food was exceptional, I had the filet minion with crab sauce and it was fantastic. Service was terrible, read on if you would like the narrative or feel free to move along now. We did go on New Year's Eve with a reservation and knowing that it was a holiday, I didn't expect lighting fast service. When we were seated the server asked if the checks would be separate or together; to which we replied we will be paying as couples (5 couples, more on this later). Drink orders took 15 min and getting said drinks took another 15, I was willing to be understanding as it was the holiday and I'm sure they were understaffed. The food order and tabling took 45 min, which again I'm happy to be patient with the above mentioned conditions. At this point we are 90+ minutes into our time and are ready to pay and leave. After having to flag down our server who had not stopped by the table in 20 minutes, we politely asked for our checks. We are told they will be brought shortly and....15 minutes later they arrive with credit cards out and jackets on which I thought is pretty clear body language that we are ready to pay and leave. After an additional 15 minutes and a few increasingly annoyed glares, a manager stops by the table to ask how everything is. We told them we would just like our cards back so we can leave which prompted a very sarcastic "Aren't you having fun?" At this point, patience had expired in the group and the manager was told that their condescension was not appreciated and again that we would just like our cards so we could leave. To which the news was delivered that their policy is to not split checks on New Year’s Eve and that’s why it had taken so long. At this point, we again repeated that we just wanted the checks so the manager threw them very aggressively on the table and stormed off. I wish this were the end of the story but, not all of the credit cards were in the now jumbled stack of checks so we still had to go flag down someone to help us. I would apologize for the chronicle but, it has been very cathartic to write all of this. If you would like to have a dining experience, which is seemingly what the prices on the menu suggest, I would recommend somewhere else. I’ve had better service at Denny’s.
