Thai Orchid — Restaurant in Holladay

I rarely take the time to post a review, but this place exceeded expectations, even for "foodies" like us.

First time order through Grubhub. It arrived 10 min earlier than scheduled -- hot, freshly prepared, and fragrant. We had to immediately open and taste EVERYTHING (see recommendations below).

Granted, this is our first and only order so far. Having now read some of the negative comments, we still definitely intend to make this a repeat. Mistakes do happen, so to those who were less than satisfied -- maybe give this place another try and a chance to impress.

Tom Kha Gai soup -- out of this world delicious! Green curry -- yum, though stay on the milder side. Pot stickers -- a must try. Tom Yum -- if you are a Tom Yum fan like me, their recipe is not the best I have had in SL (on the sour side and not as full-bodied and savory as I like; but still very good -- fresh, full of veggies...

This place has the BEST massaman curry ever, seriously it smells and tastes like heaven. Their rice is so soft and creamy and pairs perfectly well with the curry. I have also tried their shrimp pad thai, which was also really flavorful and delicious, but I typically just come here for the massaman curry. I've seen someone negatively talk about the texture of the curry in a review, and while it is very thin and liquidy, it is by NO means watery! I feel the texture is just how curry is supposed to be, and it's packed full of flavor. The ambiance of this place is really quaint, relaxing, and quiet. Having eaten Thai food in Thailand and in many other countries/cities I am sad to give this restaurant one star. Thai food is my all time favourite food for I am vegan, however for my disappointment it was so far the worst food I've ever had. I ordered a vegan version of pad Thai with tofu which is easy to make...and I made a remark - plenty of vegetable please. Two minutes later I was served noddles with tofu, loads of sugar and nothing else. After trying to kill what it was killing me I ordered a dog bag and brought back home to add my own vegetable.
