Oh, let me tell you about the worst kept secret at Big Cedar Wilderness Resort. This lounge is so “secret” that apparently the marketing team decided to throw it into the witness protection program. I’ve been to this resort dozens of times, and only after randomly wandering down a little stone path beside Truman’s did I stumble into what feels like a speakeasy designed by the gods of whiskey themselves.
Inside? Pure magic. The cocktails are extraordinary, the whiskey and scotch list reads like a collector’s dream, and the private stash behind the bar looks like it belongs in a museum. The servers are flawless — polished, friendly, and easily the best in the business. Our servers, Maximus and Kerby, weren’t just good — they were absolute beasts of the craft, true masters of the industry who elevated the entire experience to another level. The soundtrack? Sinatra, jazz, blues, even live music every night. Oh, and did I mention they have a cigar menu? Yeah, because apparently this place wants to check every single box of sophistication possible.
But here’s the punchline: despite being open to the public, no one knows it exists. You won’t find it on TikTok, you won’t see it in brochures, and unless you’ve got a treasure map, forget about it. I mean, bravo to the marketing team for keeping one of the finest lounges in the state so secret that even loyal resort guests have no idea it’s there. Really — give those folks a raise. Or, better yet, fire them.
And the food? Don’t even bother. The appetizer menu is a sad little joke, especially given that this lounge literally sits under Worman’s, the crown jewel of fine dining within 100 miles. Same kitchen, yet this lounge gets the “afterthought” scraps. Shameful.
So here’s the deal: this place is unbelievable, easily one of the best lounge experiences I’ve ever had. But thanks to the resort’s genius marketing and lackluster menu planning, you’ll only find it if you’re lucky enough to trip over it.
Secret? Oh, absolutely. So secret, it might as...
Read moreLovely venue, great drinks and nice music. Unfortunately, small children are allowed in the venue, which ruined our evening, and the evening for several other couples. A couple of parents arrived and put their young children together at a table to amuse themselves while they drank. The children were loud, and did not mind their parents at all. Their voices covered up the beautiful music, and disturbed the entire room. We finally moved up to the bar away from the children, and the noise continued. One patron at the bar asked the bartender about children being there, and he rudely informed her it was a family restaraunt and kids were allowed. The couple got up and left. I the told the bartender it was not a restaurant, but a Speakeasy. He rudely told me that this was a family resort and kids were allowed. Not long after this conversation, one of the wild children swiped a glass off the table and it shattered on the floor.
This resort has Fun Mountain for kids. It has a great area for parents with children. The staff did nothing to control the situation in the bar, and allowed the children to control the entire setting. They should have intervened, and told the parents the kids needed ro stop acting like they were on the playground in the restaurant. They were loud, yelling, and had their feet all over the chair seats and table. When they entered the venue, they were allowed by the parents to walk on the windows sill of the restaurant before entering. Great setting with poor management. We are locals and...
Read moreMy husband and I had some light bites here for dinner one night with our daughter and had the place all to ourselves for about half an hour (we dined early bc we had our baby with us).
They are family-friendly and allow kids and babies (though you will probably get dirty looks from some people - but this is a family resort).
They had wonderful live music from a friendly musician who sounded almost exactly like Frank Sinatra and charmed my daughter with her own personalized performance. So much fun.
Our waitress was friendly and the food was delicious - they don't have a huge menu but the ambiance inside is classic with a gorgeous bar and a patio overlooking the view of Table Rock lake and a water fountain.
We tried the Brie with Toast, Lox Flatbread (delicious) and the Wagyu Sliders. All were wonderful and I had a mocktail (I don't drink) which was very good and not too sweet.
Highly recommend you come at least once for drinks and to enjoy the view and music...
