Smashburger — Restaurant in Hollister

On my visit I experienced long wait times and a disorganized staff. The line to order was short, the cashier who took my order was very pleasant and quick but that's where things slowed down.

After waiting a little over 20 minutes for 2 burgers and an order of Haystack Onions I hear my name called. I walk up to the same employee who took my order with my receipt and she tells me "But that guy said it was his order" as she looked at another man that by this point was going out the door. I gave her my receipt and after a few moments I was told me they would make the order over again. Luckily the second time making the order only took about 10 minutes but when I asked for my receipt back it had been lost in those 10 minutes.

To their credit throughout everything the staff was very pleasant and apologetic about the mishaps.

As for the food, I had a Double Bacon Smashburger and it was good but not great. Both the burgers and the fried onions were very greasy. The bag actually stained one of my work shirts in my car on the way home.

I may have just visited at a bad time but I probably won't be going back and to be very clear the kitchen staff seemed to be on...

The food's okay, It's not great. I was just excited cuz they had a barbecue bacon burger with onion rings on the menu and I went to Carl's Jr today and they were closed... Anyhow I expected this to be great because I don't know it's smashburger and it was 10 bucks.. The bacon on the hamburger is that super thin processed precooked bacon you get frozen So there's already that factor. That bacon just makes everything taste like that highly processed kind of fake tasting bacon. It's just yucky. Plus I ordered the burger on the app drove two blocks and it was ready when I walked in the door so I'm guessing it was precooked? Because it was dry. It wasn't my favorite and I probably won't be back. Don't get me wrong it's not the first time I've ever been to smashburger I've been there before and the hamburger wasn't like that but I had to smash tots with my sister and they were really oily. I don't know some other people might like that but it's...

I had the crispy chicken burger with garlic sweet potato fries. I thought the chicken was done well. I'm jealous at how they got the inside of the chicken breast to maintain its moisture like this. Maybe it has something to do with being fried in a vat of oil. Anyways, I enjoyed the burger.

I also ordered the sweet potato fries and asked for garlic on it. In retrospect, that probably wasn't a good idea, because the sweetness of the sweet potatoes clashed with the garlic, to the point my mouth couldn't decide what was going on, like which party to go to. Oh, and it probably didn't help that I used ketchup. Hehe.

Next time I go, I'll try the actual beef burgers to see what they taste like. Being a fan of gourmet burgers from restaurants where I'd happily pay $20, it's hard for me to try a burger from chain restaurants like this. Part of me is worried I'll get disappointed and leave the place with a...
