Honestly, and I hate to say this, but this restaurant deserves zero stars. I have never had a reason to write a bad review on any restaurant but this one officially took the cake. My family and I decided we would like to try a new Chinese food restaurant tonight and boy did we make a mistake. Upon the initial phone call, the connect was bad, no one's immediate fault, so we called the restaurant back to place our order. We placed our order and requested extra hot mustard and soy sauce (we didn't think this was a big deal at the time). Upon pickup the woman who assisted in ringing up our order was short and impolite (basically giving the 3rd degree). Once we got the order home we noticed that there was absolutely no hot mustard or soy sauce in our bag, at all, not to mention there were no utensils or napkins provided in the bag as well. A little irritated by this, we gave the establishment a call back to let them know that these items hadn't been provided to us and that they had in fact been needed to enjoy the food that we had paid for. The response we received in turn was somewhat astounding to me, we were told that this restaurant does not provide these items to to-go customers and that the customer has to provide themselves with it at their self-service counter. This would have been nice to know upon the initial phone call or once picking up the order as we had informed the woman at the front counter (who was also manning the phones) that this was our first time trying food at this establishment. Unfortunately this was only part of the problem. The krab rangoons that were ordered and purchased, were never placed in our bag to take home. In regards to food quality, I would call it mediocre at best. When asking for regular fried rice (no meat), we were provided with just brown fried rice (no egg, no carrots, no peas, nothing...), wonton soup consisted of wontons and broth (yippee), the chow mein vegetable dish also is apparently just steamed vegetables - not a noodle in sight. Like I said previously, if I was able to post this review with absolutely no stars I definitely would. I am highly disappointed in the quality of the service, the food, and the way my money was spent at this establishment. Needless to say myself and my family will never visit this restaurant again nor will we be referring our friends or other family members...
Read moreHave been eating here with my family and friends for many many years mostly cause it's right down the street and the food is usually pretty fresh and good. Our car broke down and we decided to try the delivery service they offer. First few times everything was great. food showed up fast fresh and hot. Gave the guy a few dollar tip and all was well. After the care being broke down for a good 4 months we decided again pizza was getting old. Let's go with China Star. Ordered our food. I got the sweet and sour pork meal and my other half got general chicken meal. Food shows up smells so yummy pay the guy give a tip and on the way he went. Went to sit down to eat and open the box to my food and notice my pork is way darker then normal. it was like a shade away from being burned. It was so over cook and crunchy that I could not even bite into the piece. After never having to call and complain I was like wow what do we do. My other half chowing down on his. saying Mine is good. I decide to have him call and let them know what is going on. He spoke to the lady told her we have ordered food from you guys for many many many years and never have we once had to call or send food back, but this is way over cooked. and if you could re make and re deliver the food and we will give you this over cooked food back. No way! they said only way to replace my food was for me to bring it in there. he explained we didn't have a car at the time the whole reason we did delivery on the first place. after going over and over with her saying that ok if you refuse to re deliver the food. this will be the last time we ever order from your place and we will pass on what happen to our family and friends as well. she was like go ahead. So after we paid for the food and gave a good tip, and even offered to give the burnt food back she would rather loose people that order a fair bit from their shop. Now our Car is fixed and we are able to order from where ever. We won't be ordering from this place ever again. Good Luck to anyone else who ever has to get food replaced due to them over cooking it. they act as if you are trying to Rob them or something. China Star you...
Read moreI have been ordering from China Star for probably close to 15 years now.. as long as I can remember them being there. Over the years, I have only been dissatisfied once. And it was the time I ordered Szechuan Beef. I learned that day not to order things like Szechuan (meat) or (meat) and vegetables, as you will likely get way more veggies and way less meat than you were anticipating. I am a creature of habit, I find a few dishes I like and stick to those few selections every time I order. The lunch specials/dinners that have no veggies in them are so loaded with meat and pork fried rice, you could legitimately make 2 meals from the lunch and 3 from the dinner. I usually stick to General Tsao chicken, Sesame chicken, and Orange chicken. They are so flavorful. The food is consistently good and still hot when I get it. Deliveries are usually around half hour wait, even tho they always say 45 minutes. I think maybe once or twice, out of countless deliveries, it took about an hour. Krab Rangoon is really good, Wonton Soup is decent, Wonton Eggdrop Soup is even more decent. There is usually either of two delivery drivers there, and both of them have been there for years and are so friendly. The one lady driver doesn't speak much English, but she's super sweet and always smiling. The other is a middle aged gentleman, who is very courteous and seems to enjoy his job. Once in a blue moon, a 3rd gentleman will deliver, but I'm pretty sure he's one of the cooks. Overall, this place has kept me coming back as long as I've known they were there. Before I was even old enough to drive. I'd recommend this...
