Wow. I was really impressed with my first visit to Maharaja's. The look and feel of the entry are really well done. There is a FULL bar with mixed drinks, cocktails and bottled beers. The menu is extensive and very descriptive. The server came with my water and asked if I needed any help with an explanation on any of the dishes or if I'd like recommendations (which I found to be a very nice touch, not assuming that I'm familiar with all Indian dishes but also making me comfortable asking for help if I was curious).
I chose one of her favorites!..and now it's one of mine. The Chicken Saagwala (juicy boneless marinated chunks of chicken in a pure fresh garden creamy spinach with fresh herbs and MEDIUM spice) was one of the tastiest Indian dishes I've ever had. Complex and Delicious, I have always been a fan of Saag Paneer, but the addition of the chicken took it over the top. I also ordered Lamb Biryani, which was also really moist and flavorful...while just a little spicier than the Saagwala.
The star of the show was the FRESH BAKED specialty NAAN. I ordered the Onion Kulcha, which had finely chopped onions, scallions and mixed spices baked into soft, moist and succulent Naan. Amazing. It elevated everything. I can't wait to try their Peshwari Naan (stuffed with raisins, nuts, cherries and coconut) and the Bullet Naan (stuffed with garlic green chili and butter) in addition to their garlic Naan, cheese Naan, butter Naan and something called AlooParatha which is a whole wheat dough prepared with potatoes.
I could definitely see myself enjoying a happy hour cocktail while muching on some exotic appetizers. I will...
Read moreYes yes yes! I am by no means an Asian food expert. But I know when my mouth is happy. I stopped by Sunday afternoon when they first opened. Everything on the buffet was fresh with the exception of the canned or frozen mixed vegetables which seemed out of place with everything else. I literally tried everything on the buffet except for the frozen vegetables and I can gladly say everything was very tasty. The servers were very pleasant and responsive; however, upon further inspection some of the building issues should be addressed. The empty parking lot when I got there felt a little sketchy, I would like to see them clean up the back end outside or make it invisible. The dining room is nice the bar seems pretty updated and modern but you can tell the age of the building when you walk to the restrooms. They could definitely use some attention. If you look for it you will find a lot of small things maintenance wise that should be addressed. Overall I felt comfortable even though there are no windows. Adequate lighting, feels comfortable good decor not too gaudy. The two most important things: the food and the service were very good. If you're an undereducated, uncultured, trog, deplorable like myself looking for a food adventure; then I highly recommend checking this place out. I'll definitely be back even if it's for takeout. I can't quite give them five stars but I would definitely give them 4.5 if Google...
Read moreExceptional from the moment I pulled in the parking lot. This was my first time to an Indian restaurant, and I am hooked. I went on 2/1 about 5:30. There was a nice size small dinner crowd starting to show up as I sat there. I ordered to go and sat at the bar and had a water while I waited. The cool part for me is that I explained to the bartender woman that I had never had this experience before and she walked me the through the menu from front to back as I asked for recommendations. She lead me in the absolute perfect direction. For starters I had fried cauliflower and also a potato/pea stuffed rangoon looking thing of absolute perfection. The fried cauli was crazy good. Main course was the lamb creamy soup type luxury of tastebud explosion over white long grain rice. You know why your kids say bruh and bro, it's because they've had this dish before. Impressive and flavorful from every angle. She (the awesome bartender) recommended garlic naan bread to go with and I am telling you, the flavors explode on your tongue. And for dessert I had the incredible gooey almost donut hole type concoction draped in honey syrup. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Thank you is all I can say as I am embracing every bite of my leftovers. Big Up...
