Atami Grill & Sushi Canton — Restaurant in Holly Springs

I ordered takeout from AtamiSo so overpriced, poor customer service and the food was terrible! $75 for 2 entrees and we couldn't eat it. The portions are VERY small. The spring rolls were mush! There was no soy sauce, no sauce with the spring rolls, shrimp tempura, sushi or gyozas. Normally when you order soup you get a full bag of chips .. sometimes 2! The bag of chips they gave us for 2 soups was 1/8 of the bag and it was rolled to own and stapled it. I literally laughed out loud when I saw it. The fried rice was mushy and tasted 2 weeks old. I called to complain and they said I could get a refund if I brought the food back. It was a fathers day dinner so I had to scramble to find something else last minute. I would have had to box it all back up , get food I scraped into the trash can and drive all the way back there. It was 8 pm and I was scrambling to put a decent meal together. I felt like she was laughing when the host said I had to bring it back to prove I didn't eat it. I asked to speak to the manager and she said he didn't speak English. I explained that I didn't have time to drive back down there as I had to come up with a last minute dinner since we couldn't eat there food. I told her they were 20 min away and she argued that, that wasn't very far. I worked in the restaurant industry for years and this was the most unprofessional experience I've ever encountered. .If Id known they had a 70 health score I never would have ordered from them. Gross! I highly recommend going somewhere else for Hibachi and Chinese food unless you like old mushy food that you spent a lot of money on and to be laughed at by children when you have...

I was served gluten in my food at this restaurant despite my server immediately about my allergy. I was told my food would be prepared in the back while the hibachi chef would do the show for the rest of our dining party (which was fine).

I ordered a meal and was served soup and salad as part of it. The server didn't say anything about these courses containing gluten. Only after I ate them, and the hibachi chef came out, did he mention the salad dressing had gluten in it.

Soon after, my server came out and gave me a half apology, and even tried to blame me by saying "well, you ordered the salad with that dressing".

The manager has granted a 100 dollar credit to my friends who live nearby and had brought me as a visitor there to eat and gave me their sincere apology. I accepted it.

Other than that, the service and food was good. My main course was prepared in the back as they said it would and it tasted good.

I hate giving 1 star to restaurants but lack of care for food allergies is inexcusable. Someone with a worse allergy than me could have fallen quite ill. I dealt with two days of stomach pain and it passed.

The manager has also advised me they are taking this extremely seriously and are going to re-train all staff on menu and protocols.

Lastly, the hibachi chef was very knowledgeable and immediately went into the kitchen when I said I had eaten the gluten salad dressing to figure out...

Thankful there is place like this in Hickory Flat. That being said here’s my review… The restaurant looked to be clean which is always a nice way to start your dinner.

The Service was excellent! We were checked on several times during our meal to make sure everything was OK which I always appreciate. Our hostess/waitress was exceptional!!

Thai iced tea - good but had better. I did appreciate that they used light ice.

Ginger salad - lettuce was nice and cold and crispy but when it came to the dressing I’ve also had better.

House clear soup - Beef broth base with pinch of onions and a few thin mushroom slices. I enjoyed this because it was very light.

For dinner I had the salmon with fried rice. This is the first hibachi restaurant I have been to that up charge for fried rice, that being said the flavor and taste of the salmon, rice and vegetables was wonderful, and everything was cooked perfectly! Would for sure order it again!

For dessert got tempura cheesecake it had a drizzle of chocolate over the top and also A surprisingly light taste...
