I gave this place more than one chance because they're so close to me and delivery is (usually) fast.
After ordering on Uber Eats a bunch of times successfully, I placed my usual order: a falafel pita. It arrived and after taking a few bites of it I bit into a FREAKING BAG TIE!!! A metal bag tie used for closing bags of pitas I'm assuming. I took it out of my mouth and was disgusted - I didn't eat out for weeks after this happened. I was so grossed out that I didn't even bother calling to complain -- I just told myself I'd never eat here again and leave an accurate review.
Fast forward to months later, we start ordering again because all my friends have had fairly successful orders and I needed a fast meal. I had a flight leaving in an hour and a half, and usually get my food within 30 minutes. So I order, and wait.... and wait... and wait... and wait.... after an hour I decide to call. The lady (I think she said her name was Amanda?) said the Uber Eats guy just showed up and he was walking out with it now. I said no problem, waited 20 minutes, no update on the app. I call again, same lady, she says he's really leaving now. I asked why he didn't "really leave" 20 minutes ago and she says IDK but he's leaving now. Angry... I wait... no pickup still.... I call again to tell her I'm about to miss my flight and she says "I can just cancel the order then"
??????? So you make me wait almost 2 hours and then cancel my order ??? After lying to me about it's status ??? I'm a local business-owner myself... this is NOT how you treat or talk to customers. I said I was going to leave a bad review and you said go ahead. So, here I am :)
I hope you guys get your act together... falafel is offered by 10 people all within delivering distance, there is nothing special about your restaurant so the least you could do is treat customers with respect. Especially your regulars. Good luck and I hope this review gets some things changed over there.
For the record, they DIDN'T cancel my order - and I had to file a claim with Uber Eats (which isn't easy anymore) but they then agreed that the restaurant did not follow protocol and they refunded the...
Read moreWe were excited to find mediterranean food in the area, and thought this place would be good based on overall reviews, but man, we were wrong!
First, we ordered two entrees, kibbeh balls, and two baklava, and paid online, which was fine. Then, we received a call within about 10 minutes of placing the order from a woman saying they were out of the baklava (we ordered two) and kibbeh balls. "Okay, no big deal..." we thought. So we tried to swap them out for a side of fries and two cans of soda. The woman had the audacity to give us a hard time about a few cents in difference that we would still owe. When we said that we had already paid and that this was already an inconvenience, she tried to argue, but eventually gave in. Customer service 101: if you don't have what's on the menu and the customer has already paid for it, you accommodate and deal with the loss because it's your fault and you want customers to return. You don't give them attitude as if they're trying to scam something out of you because YOU can't update your menu or stock appropriately. Clearly her snarky attitude and reluctance over some change indicated that customers are clearly not the priority for this business.
Then, after being advertised as a 30-45 minute delivery, it was changed to an hour after we ordered. OVER an hour later, we finally received the food- if you'd call it food anyways. All of it was ice cold and soggy as if it was sitting forever, including the entrees. The fries were cold, wet, greasy, and mushy as if they were soaked in water. To add insult to injury, one of the entrees was completely wrong, and actually cost less than the one we paid for. It was like their way of getting back at us for costing them some change and not just sucking it up as a loss.
We've lived in Miami, and now Hollywood, for over four years, and this was by far the worst take out/delivery experience we've ever had. Be warned! The food was horrible, customer service was nonexistent, and everything was severely overpriced. Never again! There are definitely better...
Read moreUpdate (as of February 2022): I took off one star for the atmosphere / ambiance. It changed and is now very loud and boisterous, unlike the cozy neighborhood restaurant that it used to be, blaring loud music with stereos right next to the tables inside.
January 2022: Pita Pockets was one of the first places we stopped at, after moving to the area. We still have fond memories of dining here while our home was still unlivable, with boxes still stacked in the kitchen and kitchen implements still contained in the moving boxes, preventing us from cooking a meal. Each time we stopped by back then, we were tired and weary, from a whole day of unpacking, installing, and setting up our new home, even looking slightly disheveled ourselves. The server, Michelle, and chef, were some of the first people we met in our neighborhood when we were still getting to know the area and their smiles and the warmth they created at the restaurant, meant a lot to me personally, especially still going through the motions of a relocation. Interestingly enough, Michelle came from the same city that I used to live in, which made for an even more welcoming atmosphere in our new neighborhood, with similar backgrounds.
The food at Pita Pockets is very close to the Middle Eastern food that I was craving from my previous neighborhood, but the quantity is much better. Although I tend to order the same thing all the time, the food is so good that this is one of the few places I wouldn't mind closing my eyes and just pointing my finger at a random menu item and ordering whatever it happens to be. Sometimes the beef can be a bit fatty but most of the time, it's lean. I think that you can't go wrong with picking any item off of their menu, so, I won't recommend any particular dish.
Now that we're settled in the area, we continue to visit Pita Pockets from time-to-time, or order food for delivery — or to just stop by and say "Hello." After knowing the area more now, it still continues to...
