Playa Bowls — Restaurant in Holmdel Township

I ordered 3 Nutella bowls with one being Gluten Free. I got them home and noticed that the Gluten free one was not labeled. When I called to tell them about their mistake the “manager” got on the phone. She told me that they don’t normally label the gluten free products. She told me it was my fault for not telling them that there was an allergy issue. She also proceeded to tell me that I could tell the difference between the regular and the GF one. I honestly could not see a difference nor was I willing to risk it. I told her at 8:45 pm that I was coming back to get a new one made. The “manager” told me that they were closing and she couldn’t do that. I told her that was poor customer service and she said their was nothing she could do. I told her I wanted to talk to the owner and she said she couldn’t give out his information. She took my information and said she would tell the owner that I wanted to talk to him/her. It has been one month and I have not received a phone call. The owner has no idea how bad staff can ruin your business.

Poor customer service is my biggest complaint. Frutta Bowls is better anyway. I will never go back!!! Their loss because my family and I get bowls at least once a week. I normally wouldn’t write a bad review but this sometimes is the only way to get...

If it were 6+ months ago, I would have given this place 5 stars, but it's taken a bit of a dip in quality / service as of late.

The good: Very clean facility, fun atmosphere, there's even a foosball table and a faux fireplace to sit at. There's a lot of variety in bowls to order. The online app makes it easy to order and pick up.

The bad: A bit pricey for what it is, imho. My major complaint, and why I'm giving it 3 stars today, is that I've had my bowl taste sour on more than one occasion recently and today was the last time. I won't be going back, at least to this location, after today. I couldn't pinpoint which ingredient it was but it was enough for me to toss it. This is the third time in recent history (past 6 months or so) and I am not risking it again which is unfortunate because this place had been one of my "go to" places for years.

To the Owner: I’ve been ordering from this store for a long time. Switching to this store from a competitor we used to order from. And we couldn’t be happier. Every time I go there this one young woman Courtney is always there. I see her always working so hard, very pleasant and welcoming with customers. She seems like the go-to-person for other staff. The staff at this store is attentive and works efficiently and provides excellent service. But I have to point out Courtney is a stand out for sure and I would like the owner of this store to know. If she isn’t a manager, she should be. If I was a business owner; I would hire her in a second!
