Texas Roadhouse — Restaurant in Holmdel Township

I come here when I’m craving a steak at an affordable price. My bf and I frequent this location a lot. My steak is usually cooked right, sometimes a little undercooked but no problem. The time management at this location is extremely poor. I’m not typically a critical person, however, I’ve been here a dozen times and the last 4 times have made me not want to return to this location. I keep trying, because we love the food and prices. But the staff and food quality have pushed me away.

Firstly, I understand weekends are busy. But on a Sunday, You’ll book an online reservation and it says “40 minutes” so we show up when it says only to wait ANOTHER HOUR for a table. This has happened to us twice. Telling us wrong wait times. But whatever, we looked past that. This latest visit was my last straw.

We get sat on a Sunday night around 8pm pretty quickly. They gave us our bread and butter but no silverware. Those are some butter filled rolls- I need a napkin! Our waitress did not greet us, acknowledge us, or even get us glasses of water for the first 10 minutes of sitting there. They had to do birthday shoutouts at a table near us and across the restaurant. It would have been nice to be acknowledged when she walked right past us and said “I’ll be with you shortly” or anything- but no! She walked past us 3 times and we didn’t even know she was our waitress.

After sitting there for a while, she came up to us and was apologetic. My boyfriend and I are very patient and understanding, so we acknowledged that it was busy for her. Whatever, we order our steak and chicken Caesar salads. I got a side Caesar salad with my steak and asked for extra croutons. The food runner brought out my side salad first with no croutons and no dressing. I was baffled looking at a plate of lettuce! I called him back and politely asked for extra croutons. Then out of the corner of my eye, I see him and the waitress talking and I thought I saw him roll his eyes looking over in our direction. At this point, my patience was fading. This was at least the 4th bad experience I’ve had at this location, leading me to write this review.

When she came back with the croutons, THEN she said they ran out of Caesar dressing, forcing my boyfriend to change his entire order. I understand it’s late on a Sunday but no Caesar dressing or any accommodations after ordering two salads with Caesar? Mine was delivered to me with no dressing! When my boyfriend’s “ranch chicken salad” finally came out as a substitute- it was the most dry and disgusting chicken he’s ever had. Chewing on rubber. The salad was not even TOSSED when it came out to us.

I will be leaving this country themed establishment behind. I go here for the food, and that’s it. I don’t expect anything from this...

Was looking for a bite to eat late night with my girlfriend after getting off our shifts. We are both servers and understand that it can be annoying when customers come in late before closing. so, trying to avoid any annoyance and trying to be as easy as possibly I called 30 mins before 10 and asked if it would be ok if we came in in the next 10 minutes. The nice hostess told us yes, that as long as we came in before 10 we could be served no problem and that 10 is just when they lock the doors. When we got there, I again asked at the hostess stand if it was ok that we arrived 20 minutes before closing and strongly apologized for causing any issues coming in so late. The hostess was very nice and reassuring that we were fine. There were other people in the restaurant after all. As we are being walked to our table, our eventual server walks past us and, looking at the hostess seating us, let out a loud and audibly annoyed “Like, really?” Since me and my girlfriend are both servers, it was easy for us to pick up that we were the reason for his annoyance. We sat and really hoped that this wasn’t true and that this dude wasn’t gonna be our server, but unfortunately we were then greeted by Isaac. He was very unfriendly right off the bat, still visibly annoyed with us coming in as he greeted us. As he asked what we wanted to drink, he pulled out his phone and checked the time. When he dropped off our waters we immediately got up and left, deciding that we’d rather take our services elsewhere then sit in an uncomfortable situation and be served by someone who has made it clear that we were unwanted. It’s really a shame because isaac would’ve gotten a great tip from two full time servers who really appreciate when they have time to go out themselves and get served at a restaurant. I must say that we have always had a great experience at this location, however that was not the case last night. We arrived about 7:40pm. My daughter chose this place because we had a visitor from out of town with us, so she wanted him to have some great food, surrounded by a great environment. Unfortunately that never happened. Our waiter was slow...VERY SLOW. It took 15-20 minutes just for him to take our order. Bread thrown on the table without plates. Potato skin appetizer comes 20 mins later, again without plates or sour cream. Asked for sour cream three times. Third time was a charm because that is when he brought it. Had to ask another worker walking by for some plates. The food took almost 60 mins to be served. Asked for a lemonade refill four times...without exaggeration. Between each time he would come back and ask "Is everything okay?"... yes, if you would actually bring my lemonade. Garbage was all over the floor. The table next to us had seven people crushed into a booth. People were literally hanging out of it facing us because they couldn't fit next to one another. When those people finally left, the person cleaning their table actually sat in the booth and "played" on his phone for quite some time. Our waiter disappeared. The manager never came around to ask us if everything was okay, although I had witnessed her doing that with other tables. Steak Kabob was cold. Food was not nearly up to its usual standards. Very disappointing and a bad first impression for our out of state guest who had never eaten there before. We didn't get out of the restaurant until nearly the 10pm close. When leaving, no one was around near the front end at all. I must admit that I probably will not return to...
