The steak was cooked wrong, the fish was dry, and I wouldn't go there again, not for the price or quality. I had to send my steak back, and my wife was disgusted by the fried seafood.

We came in and it was busy, which is a good sign. We were eventually seated, and bright he menu. There's nothing under 25$ except for appetizers, and because we were on our honeymoon, we decided to get something nice.

My wife was from the lower 48, and she wanted to sample the seafood, so she got the seafood sampler, which they said is ome of their beat meals. I got the ribeye steak and clam strips for us to share. Our waitress, amanda, was rushed and not chatty, but kind.

Our salads came, and they weren't that great. The sourdough bread was cut REALLY thin, and butter torn it apart. The clam strips were decent, but you tasted the fried batter much more than the clams themselves. At this point, I would have left a 3 or 4 star review.

The food came, and for the price, the portion size was tiny, more so than I would have ever sone as a business owner. They advertised a 16-18 oz steak: I could only imagine that it was around 12. Worse than that, I cut into it and the steak was well done, not medium rare. I ate more towards the center, thinking the edges were just done, but to no avail: it was improperly cooked and tasted burnt, not grilled. I had ordered fries along with the meal, and they were worse quality than McDonald's.

My wife's food was by far the worst, though. Her sampler was halibut, salmon , scallops, and prawns, and all of it was in a cheap batter that tastes more like a fried shoe than fried seafood. The prawns were the part that I thought were decent, but the halibut and salmon were both SUPER dry, and the scallop was small and more bread than scallop. All of it honestly felt like it came from a greasy, sticky fried-food shack in a sketchy part of town. We had just had deep fried halibut the might before at my parents home, and in a trailer with nothing but a knife, flour, and a deep frier, we had better halibut than the 36 dollar plate.

I sent my steak back, after waiting for 10 minutes for the waitress to refill my water. Even worse, she knew what I had ordered, and knew I got the wrong slice of meat, and hadn't said anything (or so it appeared: I may be wrong there). Not her fault, though.

Overall, I leave this restaurant feeling unsatisfied with the portion size and quality of the food, especially for 75$ for two people. It was awful. I wouldn't recommend Captain Patties to anyone that either enjoys seafood, or wants to try it for the first...

Overall a pretty low quality for a very expensive price. We called ahead and were placed on a wait list of 40 minute which was not bad. Once we were there we sat at our table for 30 minutes before our waiter came to talk to us. She then asked us if she could start with a table of people that came in after us because they had less people. We said okay because what else are we going to say. At this point we still have not been asked if we would like anything to drink besides water. That table had their food ordered, delivered, check delivered and they left before we got our food. When she took our order it was apparent the waitress was definitely feeling really overwhelmed or something else was off with her. Blunt and out of sorts. She never did ask us if we wanted to order any drinks. She came back 15 minutes after she took our order and asked us again if she could take out order. After we said she already took it she was like ohh okay and went to finally go put it in. It was an hour more before we got our food (which the order was messed up a few different ways). I understand that some items take time to prepare and cook but most of the table got a side soup and salad in addition to there main meal which does not take an hour to prepare. The waitress tried to give food orders to the wrong people/tables all around us. Probably like five times she brought food to the wrong table. The food was pretty expensive and overall just okay. 265 dollars four 5 people. You’ll be spending at least 35-60 per meal. I’m all for spending money an quality service and meal but that’s not that we got tonight. This has been a favorite for years but with the dramatic price increases and low quality of service, I think we’ll be trying elsewhere...

We ordered the "Sea Sampler" and the "Char Grilled Sea Sampler" as our entrees. Two orders split across four people, along with an additional cup of "Clam Chowder". This was an interesting exercise as we were all able to sample between deep fried menu items and the char grill version of the same. My normal complaint of the grilled version being a menu afterthought was quickly eliminated, as the char grill version was not only excellent, but actually the better version. And that's a tall order, as the deep fried version was outstanding.

The batter used in the coating for the deep fried menu items is very good and light on the salt, which makes for a good balance for those of us who prefer to toss a dash of fresh salt on our food at the table. Wonderful flavor and the coating had a nice airy feel to it.

The seasoning on the Char Grilled items is very good. Unique. While it was possibly slightly overcooked, it was maybe overdone by seconds. Definitely not leather. That may have been due to hold time under the warmer as everything got plated. Regardless, as good as the deep fried version is, I'd order the Char Grilled version next time.

The Clam Chowder was very special. I found it to be unlike any I've had before. It's very rich, well seasoned, and loaded with clam bits. Highly recommended.

Service? We had absolutely no complaints with the service. The waitstaff were attentive, fast, and friendly.

The only complaint I have is with the floor. The floor moves a lot (which shakes the tables) when people walk past.

The view out the windows is as good as the food!

Our two entrees, combined with one soup, two orders of mozzarella sticks, and two deserts, fully satisfied four people of...

We're from Alaska so this place didn't knock our socks off. First off, the menu outside has the wrong prices on it. When you get a menue inside they're higher. Like nearly $10 higher on some dishes. Inside is ok, it's the access to that view that really wins. You can almost forget your meal while looking out at the bay. Surprised by how close they sit people with the pandemic happening though. Like, back to back. We got the sampler sort of plates, he got fried, I got grilled. When the seafood is fried it looks like you get a lot more than you actually do. You can see that in the grilled plate. The halibut was mushy and flavorless. I did say something to the server, who was nice about it, and took a little off our bill. But there needs to be better quality contol in the kitchen. If you're not getting good halibut don't serve it. The shrimp had really good flavor, scallops were good and cleaned well, but the salmon was over cooked. Over cooked salmon is tragic. Oh, I ordered the broccoli and it came as a head of broccli instead of the florets, which i really liked, and thought it was perfectly cooked. I also got the carrot cake that, while good, was about the size of a slice of bread for $9. Ultimately quality control, outside menu being lower prices, sky high prices anyway, and a lack of respect to today's health climate will prevent me from ever returning.

Okay so you're on the busy, tourist-heavy Homer Spit and want quality seafood with a great view. The casual Captain Pattie's offers both but at a premium price. That being said, not all tables have a water view. They aren't taking reservations this year which honestly could be a good thing. At 5:00-5:45 on a Wednesday the wait was about 15 minutes, by 6:00 it was up to an hour. Last year without a reservation wait times exceeded 2 hours! One note is that prices have gotten even higher at Captain Pattie's this year. Be prepared to drop some coin. That being said, the food was great (grilled seaf sampler - prawns, scallops, salmon, halibut is my go-to.) The chowder was pretty underwhelming I'd say, very few pieces of clam and huge pieces of potato. Entrees come with chowder or salad so it wasn't an extra order but much preferred my partner's side salad over the chowder. Oh and lastly, service has always been excellent (especially Joy!) All in all it's a good choice on the Spit just be prepared to wait and pay tourist area (and dining with a view) prices.

What a cool view while you eat fresh seafood. I spent $77 for just myself, ordering the Char Seafood Combo, w/ coleslaw, and I opted for the chowder over the salad, and one draft beer. The beer was not very cold. But local to AK, so I enjoyed it. The chowder was only just warm. The flavor was great, but the potatoes were rather large and it was hard to tell the difference between the bacon and the minimal amount of razor clams. The combo plate was pretty lack luster in presentation considering the cost of $41. The coleslaw was typical, but not disappointing. The seafood was all good quality food, but lacked salt or any flavor. It would be nice to have a sauce option or more than one lemon slice. Overall worth the experience, but don't expect anything but high turnover food for tourists. Not much thought to the dishes. Service was super friendly and fast, I did have to ask for napkins and silverware after my meal and soup had been delivered.
