First off i came in around 6pm and it was quiet and peaceful inside. I was seated right away and had a nice server take my order promptly. What i enjoy was just how quickly my food came, hot fresh and hot it was and of course how delicious it all was. I ordered the basil beef and it did not disappoint. As well as the fried dumplings and they were great. The sauce that came with it was really good too. I have never seen a few of the dish options like basil chicken/beef so I figured I had to try it and it was great. It was so good I highly recommend trying it if you ever stop in here. Its different from all the normal things you see anywhere else (ie:orange chicken or general tso's, ect). I also tried there sweet tea and I must say, maybe itz because I'm so far down south, but it sure tastes like southern tea. Probably the sweetest tea I've drank in a long time, or ever maybe. But it was still enjoyable. Just beware the amount of sugar in that. On top of how great the food is here, this place even has a real Asian grocery store attached to it, and me being from out of state, I thoroughly enjoyed browsing just the amount of different kinds of beverages they had here. If I had the ability id have bought a lot more, and I mean it. But I couldn't so I settled for a few new ones I've never tried. Like the melon flavored ones. All in all, if you travel a lot like me, and work state to state, I highly encourage you to give this place a try. Especially if you enjoy trying new things. If I ever visit this area again for work I'll be trying there pork buns.

I have made a few visits to Red Pearl, but I was inspired to write a review; because a local blog I follow wrote about another Asian/Chinese Cuisine Restaurant being chosen as Alabama’s #1 place to eat. And my thoughts go. “! A PLACE BETTER THAN RED PEARL!?” … (I will investigate this further ! Fo’show) 😂 AnyWho! In my quest for “all things good” I ran across the 4.5 ⭐️THE Red Pearl Restaurant (By the way… I am giving it 4 stars simply because it was not voted #1 and I want to give respect to the Restaurant who will not be named) Red Pearl is the jewel of Homewood. From the unique way it sits off the main road, to the popular and eclectic Asian market, to the delightful decorative restaurant inside. I love how spacious the booths are for families or groups. The staff is helpful, pleasant, diverse, and are familiar with the menu. The meal comes to the table with a large bowl of steam rice. And everything was hot and fresh. My favorites from the menu are: Appz: Pork Bun, The soups- All of em’! Spring Rolls- no one can eat just one! Entree: Mongolian Beef, General Tso Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Teriyaki Shrimp Chicken Fried Rice and the Vegetable Lo Mein Good Red Pinot too- great price for a bottle! The biggest disappointment was not enough wonton chips for the soup! Also a favorite of mine is the fact that they don’t grab a handful of the fortune cookies and place them on the table- the precise amount is passed out keeping the tradition of the cookie going. This restaurant does not disappoint do yourself a favor and check it out for yourself.

The food was tasty, the restaurant was very busy, but I don't understand why it should have taken an hour and a half from being seated to finally leaving. I've been in far busier Chinese restaurants but never have I had to wait as long as I did for my food to come out. It wasn't just me as most tables were waiting very long times for their food, and almost every table I observed their food orders did not come out to tables properly in that every table of three and four people had one or two people's food come out and the others were waiting anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes for their food to come out (and everybody at those tables also looked perplexed and a little angry). I was dining by myself and ordered an entree noodle dish and a vegetable dish, and my noodle dish came out an hour after I ordered, and then 15 minutes later the vegetable dish came out. I was traveling through on my way further south, and I was not prepared for, and frankly was almost ready to walk out before my food came out, because I didn't have that much time to waste waiting on food that typically should only take 15 to 20 minutes to come out of the kitchen. I ended up not getting to my destination until 11:30 p.m. when I should have gotten there no later than 10:30 p.m. had my food been delivered timely as anticipated.

We visited during new Covid preventative procedures, having never visited before though, they were very cautious by requiring a mask to enter and if you need to walk around, you must wear it. However, masks can be removed at your table. We were greeted right away, temperatures were digitally taken, and a name & phone number was required from at least one person in your party. The staff were all courteous, sat us immediately and there was hand sanitizer on each table. The food came out in a timely manner, but as others said, it did not come out all at once, it came out piece by piece. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. Prices were also reasonable. My favorite dish on our table was the chicken rice noodle plate, YUM. I got szechuan beef, which came out literally sizzling as the menu states, however the menu does not say that the dish has large portions of tofu and a small portion of beef. Being that I'm not a fan of tofu, I wasn't pleased by this... the dish was very good though. Overall, we were all happy and very full .. oh yea, the portions were perfect in my opinion. I only took a picture of the soup buns, they were so good, even my picky 7 year old ate two of them.

Dee. Lish. Ish. Fantastic food, and brought out very quickly... Apparently it was slower than usual this Thursday afternoon and the cooks were very ready for something to do. It was the best sesame chicken I've ever had, with flavorful sauce, well cooked rice, and I was very pleased to find that my chicken, though hastily cut and not completely separated in some places, was still quite good. My husband got kung pao chicken, which seems to involve quite a bit spicy red pepper and possibly jalapenos? There were quite a few large cuts of green peppers that were, according to my husband, extremely spicy. The lights in the dining area are very neat and give a good ambiance, though it may be a smidge dark in the evenings. I highly recommend you peruse the market while you're here. There's a wide variety of interesting ramen flavors, different noodles, all kinds of spices, a giant selection of neat chopsticks, and a super-boss cookware section.
