My Family and I have stay at this hotel once a year for the last 15 plus years(since back in the days when it was Shoney's). Every year when we come we ALWAYS get the SAME adjoining room and reason being we had/have minor kids so my parents are able to keep an eye out if my husband and I step out. I made my reservation in April for July only to arrive and be told that not only did we not get an adjoining room we're on opposite ends of the floor. Then to find out that my parents are actually in a room that adjoinins yet we couldn't be put in that but instead on the other end of the floor which was definitely upsetting. So to add insult to injury the Manager Dareious Maze was completely unempathetic and definitely not apologetic on top of that he did not try to do ANYTHING to rectify the situation. In fact when I inquired about me making the reservation in April and not at least getting a room next to my parents his exact words were "well we don't look at reservations in April for July, we don't look at them until the day of." Well having personally dealt with one of the Owners(Nina) in the past I was quite disgusted by the Managers lack of interest in trying to make the situation right in some kind of way as my encounters with Nina were always pleasant and Customer focused. I later learned that there were 2 or 3 bus loads of people that were booked at the hotel so I came to the conclusion that since one of the rooms I booked was being paid for with reward points I guess my reservation was less important than the group that was paying for all their rooms. I realize there is always a risk of not having the adjoining room request met but the least that could have been done was to put our rooms near each other. Well, needless to stay I will no longer patronize this establishment for our annual stays and I will most definitely share my experience with the many family and friends we have that stay here throughout the year. As a Manager myself I must say I was quite appalled at Dareious's demeanor with regard to the situation and that too has an impact on my decision...

After waiting for our room, which is understandable due to the difficulty of acquiring workers in today's economy, my leader and roommate found that the room was clean. It had a microwave and a minifridge which is a nice amenity. However, I do have some complaints. The stained sheets, smoke smell, damp room, and occasional cockroaches in the tub were all things that I might be able to overlook. My main issue, that was also shared with the rest of the group, was with the employee who prepared and served the breakfast. They did not act professionally in their workplace. I personally caught a lot of flack for the breakfast rush that she apparently encountered on the previous day. Me and my leader came down for breakfast and they asked me if there was anyone behind me. I struggle with hearing people sometimes and when they spoke to me I did not hear them so I said, "Sorry, I did not hear you." Their reply was to look at the employee next to them and exclaimed, "See, that's just how these kids are! Disrespectful and rude." They later stormed off to the breakfast prep room when met with two more tables and slammed the door behind them. I'm not sure what provoked them this morning but I hope that it is only her experience from yesterday that she is still bitter about. I do hope it is that rather than anything else that might actually be worth slamming a door on some kids who wanted some breakfast before they headed out for the day.
All in all, these are the only issues I had and I was able to get some rest in between the two nights I spent at the Motion convention. I wish you a great rest of your day, and I pray that that employee is given some peace...

When we walked in there was a musty smell and the AC was very loud. We were exhausted but figured if that was it.. it's only one night...how bad could it be? We fell asleep and were awoken by insect bites.
After further inspection my wife and I realized it was bed bugs. Let me tell you that it was impossible to inspect the bed because there was a zipped up mattress cover that was impenetrable - we never found the zipper. However we did find more bed bugs in the sheets. See photos attached.
We went downstairs and told the man at the front desk. He was helpful and got us another room since it was almost midnight and going to another hotel was not an option. We checked the new room thoroughly and was fairly certain that there was no bed bugs there - it was on a completely different floor.
Sadly it's hard to come back from the experience of being attacked by bed bugs, so we both did not sleep well. It didn't help that the person next door was allowing their alarm to go off at 5:00 a.m. and not turning it off for hours.
I am not typically a person that would leave a bad review but this was really bad. I give the service three stars because the guy that helped us, Kris, was expedient in getting us moved and we did get refunded for the entire amount of our stay. But I needed to leave this review because I am now going to spend the rest of my birthday weekend paranoid about bringing bed bugs with me not only to my next destination but back to my home. Be weary and always check for bed bugs!!!
And for what it's worth, we didn't receive any apology or special communication from a supervisor or manager about this. Not even a call to let us know we were...
