Bangkok Chef Nuuanu — Restaurant in Honolulu

I picked up a couple of appetizers for Super Bowl at the Bangkok Chef by a friends place. It seems to be a straight forward take away joint. There is not much ambiance, but I can't eat ambiance. I was hoping the food didn't taste how the place looked. The order was called in to be picked up straight away after church. The order was ready when I arrived. The two men behind the counter helped each other with getting the orders out. There was a bit of confusion with the young man in line in front of me. They had my order boxed, but they took it out of the box and asked if I wanted to buy a bag, I didn't. Service was me paying and walking out with a couple of appetizers that were mediocre at best. Not much flavor, and they cut back on some ingredients while piling on others that were bland and made the items overly dry. I will not be ordering those particular items again. I may try the Bangkok Chef by my house...

Great Thai food for a great price My favorites here are the pad ki mao, tomyum soup, and their curries. The pad ki mao is a slightly spicy noodle dish with basil and bean sprouts. I love it Tom yum soup is nice and hot with just the amount of spice and lemongrass. Comes with seafood and goes very well with sticky rice. I’m a big fan of the Penang red curry with pork and with sticky rice, one portion is enough to feed at least 2 people. The curry is rich without being overpowering and the red curry isn’t as spicy as the green curry. Albeit their green curry is great as well. Have I mentioned I like their sticky rice?

Thai coffee or Thai tea go well with any of those dishes and will receive a high recommendation...

This is a local place has been here for a while, so I've been going to them for a while.They do serve food indoors.Sit down, but it's not terribly attractive.Most of the business is take out. A lot. Of the food is really good and at least it's reasonably priced. For those of us who live in the neighborhood, it's a guaranteed place.You can get quick food any given night when you don't want to cook. One thing I do not like. I tried their version of soup with noodles like the vietnamese pho. It was completely tasteless.The broth was bad.The noodles were bad.The meat was bad. I have never ordered it again, and i'm never going to...
