Food: 4 Stars Service: 4 Stars Value: 4 Stars Overall: 4 Stars Visiting Leonard's Bakery Malasada Truck during my trip to Hawaii, was a highlight of the trip. Eagerly, my family and I planned a stop at this renowned spot to grab some snacks. Upon arrival, it was clear this place is popular; a queue had formed, leading to a 10-minute wait to place our order, followed by another 10 minutes for preparation. Firstly, the malasadas themselves were a delight. Warm and fresh, they truly hit the spot, embodying the essence of a perfect snack. Their light and airy texture, a key feature, made them immensely enjoyable. Furthermore, these fluffy treats, not excessively sweet, were generously dusted with granulated cane sugar, enhancing their taste without overpowering it. Additionally, the versions with fillings elevated the experience. They offered a delightful contrast, adding a luscious depth to the already delicious base. This combination of soft dough and rich filling made each bite a memorable experience. In conclusion, Leonard's Bakery Malasada Truck is a must-visit location. Its ability to deliver consistently delightful treats makes it a standout. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's a mandatory stop for an authentic taste of the area's culinary offerings. The combination of warm, fluffy dough, the right amount of sweetness, and optional decadent fillings ensures a satisfying treat for any palate. kellychan360

Imagine taking a fluffy pillow, deep frying it, and coating it with sugar - that’s basically a malasada from Leonard’s. Calling it a “Portuguese donut” is really an injustice to these legendary pastries that justifiably make appearances in magazines, guidebooks, and TV shows. The main bakery is located just northeast of Waikiki in a rather bleak part of Kapahulu, and if you go there after 9 AM, you will most likely be waiting in line along with hordes of tourists. If you want Leonard’s swag, you have to go there, but as I only want malasadas, I prefer going to one of the Leonard’s Bakery Malasadamobiles (basically, malasada food trucks) which are scattered around the island. This truck is the one in Pearlridge - it's located in a mall parking lot. As usual, the malasadas were delicious - pillowy, sugary, deep-fried bits of heaven. There are six versions of divinity - original (sugar), cinnamon, li hing, custard-filled, dobash (chocolate-filled), and haupia (coconut cream-filled). Li hing is called “sweet and sour sugar”, but it’s actually plum skin that’s been pickled, dried, and pulverized into a powder. The first three cost $1.85 each, the next three are $2.25 each. If you are headed to Hanauma Bay, there is a Malasadamobile a few minutes away at the Koko Marina Center - it’s a nice place for a snack on the way back to the hotel.

Waay fresh & crazy good straight from the truck, I think even better than from their bakery shop! Try a custard LiHing or huapia filled- but honestly, even one w/o any sugar is still good. I get those for my SO & make lil itis-inducing sandwiches for him next day. Dude man that took my order was super nice, kinda flipped my box over and all the custard popped out, but thats how i discovered that delightful combination of custard & Lihing! Idkwhy i never thought to have a filling one w/liHing before, but better late than never! A lil sad they don't have flavors of the week, cuz the mango was sOo delightful, but this hott crispness of the malasada is the best. Usually there's a line, but it moves super fast & order comes through quick. Fantastic after a nice hike (no guilt trip, haha)! Too bad they don't serve coffee too... Thanks, Leonard's!!!

5/5! Absolutely delicious! After a nice day snorkeling, a local friend of ours recommended some Malasadas as a nice snack to eat after a day of swimming. The Food: The Malasadas are almost like a big fluffy donut that either has some filling or no filling, covered in cinnamon. We went with some originals with no filling and some with a custard filling and coconut filling. The originals were hands down the best, each bite was soft and fluffy and the sugar added a nice sweet flavor. The Service: Malasadas are cooked to order so when we ordered, it took a bit for us to get, but it was worth the wait. The staff were friendly as well. You can find the Malasadamobile on in a shopping strip mall, very hard to miss when passing on the side of the road. Overall, a 5/5! Completely destroyed the Malasada box and I have no regrets.

We were driving to Hanauma Bay, when we spotted Leonard’s Bakery truck. My husband quickly turned the car around because I fell in love with Leonard’s Bakery Malasadas last time we were in Honolulu. While waiting in line for about 20 minutes, I looked up the menu online and had my order totally planned out. I was so excited for it too. When my turn finally came and I placed my order with the lady, she was so curt with me saying, we don’t have that and that. It took me a minute to collect my thoughts to place my order based on what she had and again she was so annoyed, almost angry with me. I ended up getting 6 malasadas and they were just as delicious as I remembered. Both my husband and my favorite ended up being the plain so next time I am going to get more of the plain.
