Because of a newspaper add for a prefix special for Valentine's weekend, we decided to try this place for an early celebration to avoid the rush. We have know about it for sometime, but just never got around to checking them out. I was very happy with our choice. It was an amazing dinning experience.
Don't let the name of the building the restaurant discourage you. It isn't actually owned by him and is just licensed to use it. Once you get past that fact, you are now in the restaurant which is located on the lobby level or second floor.
Wai'olu Ocean Cuisine has a open deck that has partially inside/outside floor plan with comfortable casual seating. It is really mean for you to chill and enjoy the sunset. The design is great and does allow you escape that city feeling that Waikiki can have as a concreate jungle sometimes.
Our choices for the prefix were the ahi tartar, scallop, black cod and chocolate caramel tart. All were just amazing with flavor and presentation, however the portions were conservative and we did end up getting a couple items from their sushi selection before our dessert. The Rise of the Phenix Roll was amazing and I highly recommend it. Also, their Nigiri was just as great.
For the evening, our server was Aki. She was great. Really thought she was pleasant and attentive, but everyone there was supper friendly and welcoming.
Our early Valentine's dinner was top notch and hopefully we will return again to try more of their offerings along with their comfortable and relaxed yet well...
Read moreThis is a Christmas Dinner Review... My wife and I flew into Oahu for the week of Christmas, we had planned dinner reservations each night with our last night being Christmas Dinner. We had eaten at this restaurant before and wanted it to be our final meal and Christmas dinner while in Hawaii.. I called 2 weeks in advance to ensure the menu would be served they said they were going to have a prefix menu as well as the regular menu available (This was confirmed over the phone 2 weeks in advance). We arrived Sunday to learn that the regular menu was not being offered and our only choice was the prefix menu... This completely ruined our Christmas day! we reserved this restaurant for our last meal because there are items on the regular menu that we were looking forward to.
The Prefix menu was not bad, the Chef did a wonderful job of putting this together. the Presentation and flavors were all that we would come to expect from this restaurant. But we left disappointed, and we felt in part our trip had been negatively impacted by this experience.
I'm not sure where the failure in communication broke down as I called 2 weeks in advance to confirm the regular menu would be available, but this was a huge disappointment and may impact us visiting this restaurant in the future as we visit Oahu 4-5...

The restaurant is located on the 6th floor of the Trump International Waikiki, in an open air dining room with a relaxed setting you can enjoy table services or eat in lounge seating. Tables have a view of the city scape and sunset. We made a reservation to enjoy our last night in Waikiki. There is a wide seafood for variety oysters, whole Maine lobster, fresh caught fish, mussels, and sushi and even a kids menu. The chefs tasting Ali’i course ordered Chinese style brought back magical memories of southeast Asia as it was served whole bone-in which made the filets most flavorful! The poke ceviche was so fresh served with delicately sliced crisp red onion, a taste of Hawaii. The non-alcoholic and alcohol drinks were beautiful and very tasty, all made with...
