It was my first time try this place and I really like sambusa so I came here to try. I’m not gonna speak too much on the cleanliness aspect because I feel like a lot of other reviews have already touched base on that. It’s not very clean looking or kept in such a way that someone might be used to a better maintained restaurant. The annoyance was with the menu and the guy that was servicing me. He had limited English so I’m not gonna fault him for that obviously but it doesn’t really say the prices for the Sambusa’s or options if I wanted to add any rice so I’m not someone that likes to just go off with people tell me because I feel like that leaves the option for people to charge whatever which I think is best to eliminate any chances of discriminatory pricing ( just my thought and opinion as a general practice not for this place specifically) The sambusa was okay I didn’t really care for how spicy it was. I wish there was vegetarian options like the ones that have potatoes. It looks like the prices are pretty decent and with the other reviews I heard you get pretty good portions. However, the unkept nature of the restaurant would keep me from wanting to go again because cleanliness is a big deal for me.
Edit: I’m reducing my review because later on after eating this food I ended up getting sick which I knew would happen since my stomach began to hurt soon after...
Read moreThis was only our 2nd time to try Somali food. I'm glad we tried it because it was very tasty. The chicken was grilled and had a nice flavor, the rice was seasoned well, the vegetables were also grilled (not left raw) and the portions were a good size. Be careful of the green sauce that they give as a side. We eat spicy food often and this was to spicy for us. The flavor is great if you don't mind sweating while you eat. Prices are very fair. Some of the food was made earlier in the day and had to be reheated when we ordered it. This made the fried sambusa's soggy. I would've preferred crispy, crunchy pies but the flavor was nice.
My concerns - the restaurant doesn't appear to be kept clean. It is also not very welcoming for women or families. I think it's meant more for working men to meet and hang out with each other. The employees were very nice, but it was difficult to...
Read moreGreat food! They make great food, but I prefer it without ranch dressing. The meat is so flavorful that the dressing masks it's deliciousness! I have never understood the ranch dressing obsession, so do take that into consideration. I am madly in love with their hot tea and would drink pots of it if it were possible. They must have magic seasonings they add, because I swear that I have the right spices at home, but it is never as good. The stars of the menu, however, are the sambusas! They put a smile on EVERYONE'S face! They are a heavenly triangular pocket of spicy meat and pure joy! Warning: You won't be able to stop at one. Extreme Warning: Bringing sambusas around other people may result in loss of your sambusas. The only way to ensure that you get to eat yours is to get enough to share!!!! You have...
