While the store itself is very nice and their shoes are even better, our experience with the sales person, Beth, was disappointing. She was very rude when we walked in - we are young professionals and we were excited to finally get to the Red Wing store for my boyfriend to purchase a pair of Iron Rangers. She was immediately treating us like she didn't have the time to help - we did a lap around the store looking for the shoes and didn't find them right away. We asked and she snipped back, "they're right at the front", pointing towards the door. We walked over and started looking at the first shelf and she snottily said, "those are women's shoes, keep looking". She didn't make any attempt to show us. When my boyfriend asked to try them on, she huffed and grabbed his size. She practically threw the boots at him and was no help in trying them on, and the few questions he had must have pained her. (When you're buying a $350 pair of boots, you would expect the salesperson to be helpful, assisting in sizing them, and make sure you're educated on the shoes. Red Wing has a pretty interesting history - why aren't you sharing that with us?)
We felt like because we are "young" (late twenties) she assumed we couldn't afford them. As soon as we pulled out our wallet at checkout, her entire tone changed. (We considered leaving, because we were clearly inconveniencing her - but when you've been eyeing up a pair of shoes for a while, it's hard to walk away from them.) Our credit card seemed to really cheer her up - she was suddenly friendly and willing to answer questions.
We likely won't be back to the Hopkins Red Wing store - she put a horrible taste in our mouths. This is unfortunate, because we live close and love their products. Had Beth been more helpful, I likely would have also bought a pair of shoes - but she made us uncomfortable and it...
Read moreI wanted to say thank you to ladies that assisted me yesterday in purchasing my Oro Clara boots in size 12. I really appreciate your assistance with purchasing the correct items to maintain my boots.
I fly out on Halloween for a long European trip. I finally did it!
I have been looking at Red Wing Heritage boots since my cousin came in with his RW shoes on and talked them up. He loved his and had already had them for 5 years and wears them almost everyday, he was OTR driver at the time and they were his go to shoes not boots, I was impressed. Looked at the Clara and fell in love right away but, the price kept me away, 4 years of knockoffs at lower prices and I could have purchased them 2x. Picked them up yesterday from the Hastings store, it was a quick purchase, Size 12 Oro picked up some maintain supplies and 2 different types of laces for the break in period just in case I pulled on the original laces a bit too hard and snapped them.
This morning, I am walking around the house in them to start the break in process, I love how they look and feel so far. Beautiful on line and in person, I am breaking these in to take on my trip.
I will update later after I have broken...
Read moreI wish I would have read the reviews and comments here before going here to purchase boots. I'm a new Red Wing customer and had read online that I needed to size down so I went to the store to get measured for my proper size. While trying on the boots I mentioned they were tight, but the service person said they would stretch when broken in. After wearing for 4 hours my feet hurt so bad I had to take them off. I went to the store to exchange for a bigger size and was flat out told no for an exchange and to wear a thinner sock. When some drops $250 at a store they expect a certain level of customer service. Especially when they are the ones helping you size. Mike and his crew apparently are so focused on the initial sale they don't care about repeat business...
