Good evening Google Family. This was my mom's and I first visit at the Red Lion Diner. I have passed by here so many times, too many to count. I always visit my gym, the Edge gym, in this area, so I have seen this place many times and I have vowed to stop one day. Today was the day. Red lion did not disappoint. The rest rooms were clean and in order. We were seated right in front. The first seats. My mom ordered her trusty broiled tilapia with mashed potatoes and applesauce. I ordered the broiled seafood trio, which consisted of broiled shrimp, broiled flounder and broiled salmon. Simply delicious!! My mom's only complaint was that the mashed potatoes were too salty. I also ordered an ice tea with lemon. We had a male server. We thought that we were getting the female server. We found out later that the male server had taken our table. Trisha was so kind, the only server who was female and who we wished we had. Next time, we go there we are asking for Trisha. She went over and beyond for us, even though she wasn't our original server. She brought us brown paper bags and plastic bags and boxes for our food to take home. I also ate soup which came with my meal. My mom did not want her soup, so we took it home. And we received pudding with our meal. The choices were rice, bread, chocolate or tapioca. My mom opted for rice and I opted for bread pudding. They didn't have banana or bread pudding. I decided on chocolate pudding. We wished we had gotten Trisha because Trisha was always working. She was never on her phone. Whenever I looked up and the male server was not serving anyone, he was on his phone. That is why he received a decreased tip, $5.00. My dear dad trained me well. He told me when you get mediocre service, that you decrease the tip. He said always give something even if they don't deserve it. However instead of giving them the necessary and required 15% you just give less. They will know that when they received the tip that the service was not great or they did something that was not up to par. My dad rewarded those servers who went over and beyond and always increased their tip to over 15% if they were deserving and the service was outstanding. Our check was $42.29. I gave it to Trisha and gave her the money who then gave it to the male server. We will return but this time we will ask for Trisha. I forgot to ask for Trisha's days off. But I will call tomorrow and find that out. They have different hours. No longer are they open for 24 hours. Trisha told me that they have not been open for 24 hours for five years, since COVID. They have not been able to find staff willing to work for 24 hours. That is definitely understandable, given the current times that we are living and working in. Maybe that will change one day. Good night Google Family and don't forget...
Read moreWhen we walked into this diner, the manager took us to our table without any greeting. Rude but not a big deal.
I looked at the specials and saw something called a yankee pot roast. I googled it because I’ve never heard of a yankee pot roast. I’ve only ever heard of people calling it pot roast. I ended up ordering that special after seeing photos of what it looks like. Then, I received a meal, but it definitely wasn’t what I ordered. It looked nothing like a Yankee pot roast whatsoever. It was just meat smothered in tomato/sauce. So I respectfully spoke with the manager about this problem and requested to have the meal that I ordered instead of the one they gave me. The manager gave me a hard time about it and asked me to tell him what was wrong with it. I showed him the pictures I googled of what a yankee pot roast should look like so he would see that the meal I was given was not at all what I ordered. He still gave me a hard time and tried to replace that food with some other dish. I ended up asking for my money back and he said that I would still have to pay for the soup and salad that were included in the special. I don't think that's fair because the tiny cup of mediocre soup and the substandard salad were absolutely not worth 10 bucks and I never would have spent 10 extra bucks on that stuff. I only ate the soup and salad because they were included in the special and came out before the meal- the wrong meal that didn’t look appetizing at all.
Also, the server gave us a side of sweet potatoe fries and charged us for them after we asked for her to take them off of the order not one, but two times. We made it very clear that we did not want the fries, but they showed up to our table anyways and we were charged for them.
Very disappointing experience here. I won’t...
Read moreNot much as changed. Went today for breakfast and the placed was not crowded. I was seated right away but no one checked on me after 5 minutes. Finally, the host came over and asked if I wanted anything to drink so I ordered coffee.
After 15 minutes, the waiter came over and asked if I needed anything else and I told him I wanted to order.
Order arrived quickly, but I got the wrong type of bread for my toast.
I can't understand how this place continues to make these mistakes. I live near the Red Lion Diner and I want it to succeed. But I am done, there are too many quality breakfast/lunch places in the area that are better options.
Back after a few months. Place looks like it has new management.
Food arrived quickly and it was hot and fresh.
After 4 months I decided to try this Diner again for breakfast. Over all I would say average. The four of us were seated in a booth with just two place settings and I asked several times for two more. When our food arrived, we then got our settings.
Toast was burnt, tater tots were cold and scarce. We ordered sides of bacon and received just two peices.
Server was nice and friendly. Place looked clean.
There are a lot of food options in the area so competition is tough. I hope management will use this review to improve their establishment.
I will be back again to see.
Great local diner that we visit a few times a month. Food is always fresh and good. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The Diner staff has improved in the area of speed and brings out your food quicker than...
