I was actually appalled at the way another guest was treated by the owner. If this is the way they regularly treat patrons it will only be a matter of time before this place folds. By reading some other Google Reviews- the attitude clearly falls over to this platform as well. Romaine Gulliroy (founder and original owner) would be rolling over in his grave at the treatment of patrons. Never would this behavior been acceptable under his control. As a long time Hot Springs/Piney Junction area resident, I have regularly frequented Cajun Boilers since I was a child. When it shut down, we were deeply saddened bc this was a core memory from childhood. Anyway- fast forward to last year, we heard that the Galster family was opening it back up and boy were we excited. We have been a couple of times since the new ownership has taken place. While the food wasn’t and hasn’t been what it once was, we know that all things new need the kinks worked out so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned. After tonight, this will not be the case. While I am not sure of all the details surrounding what I witnessed, I still find the behavior unacceptable. At one point during their meal, the family near us at asked to speak to a manager at which time a young man and young woman approached the table and spoke to them. This appeared to be a very calm exchange of dissatisfaction. The family continued their meal, what happened next is what surprised and disappointed me. An older woman approached the table with the same young man and the first thing she said to the guest was “ I’m warning you my attitude”……then I couldn’t hear what was said as it was extremely loud in the restaurant. Not an ideal way to start a conversation. The guest was sitting and ask the woman who was standing over her to please step back. By this time, my entire family was watching. Meanwhile the young man that had approached the family the first time was begging this woman to step away, just leave it alone. Reconcile and move forward. At one point in time, the guest asked the older woman (who later proclaimed she was the owner) are you trying to threaten me? I have asked you to step away from me. The owner proclaimed that she owned the establishment and she wasn’t going anywhere. The owner then continued to argue with the guest standing over her after being asked multiple times to step back. She said that the young man-manager standing there was her son. Again, he appeared very level headed and tried to de-escalate his mother through most of this encounter what parts could be heard. “Mom let’s not do this” They continued to speak and eventually the owner walked away. As stated earlier, it was too loud to hear all of the conversation but from my observation, the body language of the owner was aggressive. I don’t think it’s great business to stand over your guests as they are seated and what appeared to be argue with them. Do better. Perhaps take a lesson in hospitality. Your attitude is very unbecoming. To your son- you carried...
Read moreHorrible service under the new management! We used to love CB, now it’s a disappointment! Noah, the owners son, who manages the place is rude and doesn’t know how to run a business! After reaching out to request an accommodation and reservation for a special occasion, we were met not only with resistance but with an attitude that bordered on hostile! It was my mother’s in law 77th birthday, we were going to be a party of 6, she is not in her best health after the passing of my father in law 4 months ago. Her wish was to have a nice meal at Cajun Boilers. We called ahead of time and a nice bartender said that they will probably be able to accommodate us and reserve a table. She advised us to call the day of dining in the morning. This is what we did - Noah spoke to us, we were ready to leave $250 deposit beforehand, we also were ready to pre-order huge platters with oysters, crab legs, appetizers etc. and prepay for the food. We wanted to accommodate the wish of an elderly woman who loves Cajun Boilers. Noah got my husband’s number and texted back after an hour that they will not take a reservation. My husband expressed his disappointment and Noah’s response back was “Do not come”. To say this was surprising would be an understatement! It’s one thing to be unable to accommodate a reservation. But to dismiss potential guests so rudely, is unacceptable from anyone, let alone the face of a hospitality business. There is no shortage of wonderful dining options in the area where guests are treated with kindness and respect! And indeed we dined in their competitors restaurants down the street, they took a reservation and accommodated our needs! Not to mention that we were loyal customers to the family who owns Cajun Boilers now, and their other businesses- we will not be renting their boats any more either! The moral of the story is that when Noah told us “Don’t come” he spoke his words into the Universe! The next day Cajun Boilers was destroyed by a natural disaster…. Such a...
Read moreFirst visit will be our last. We waited over one and a half hours to get food. My plate was cold. The server said several times that the food is coming right up, and ten minutes turned into over an hour. Then he said our ticket was 3rd in line. My daughter said we had waited so long we might as well wait. My granddaughter was tired of waiting, hungry, and not much we could do to pacify her. We should have just gotten up and left. The waiter told us it was a record night for how busy they were. We'll, if you have tables and you seat people, you should be able to serve them. It doesn't matter if you have 5 seats or 500, if you have the tables, you should be able to serve everyone in a reasonable time. It was totally ridiculous. The crab legs were cold and all I could taste was the Cajun spice. That was the flavor. Out of six plates, only one was warm. I didn't send them back because we were just ready to leave. It was very disappointing. When I got the bill, I was floored, $250 for what? A service fee on the ticket? What is that? The suggested tip was over $50. There's no way I'm tipping $50 to sit there and wait over an hour for food and only be asked once if I needed a refill on my drink. My little boy had to get up and ask for a refill. Their sign said "Award winning" seafood. What, the cold and slow award? We won't be back. This morning, I called my aunt, who suggested eating there, and told her what happened. She said sorry, she hadn't been there in years but it used to be good. She had heard it changed owners but didn't know. I don't know either, but if you want to have an enjoyable day, go around the corner and ride some gokarts. It was way cheaper and a better experience than...
