FOOD: Food was a mixed bag, especially on spice level. Some stuff was utterly bland (including the salsa that came with the complimentary chips, which was only saved by liberal use of the hot sauce at the table), other was savory/spicy and quite tasty.

The menu has eleventy-zillion items. That's not unusual at a Mexican restaurant, but Jalapenos seems to take it to an extreme. It took me inordinately long to read through the offerings and find the right combo of entree and toppings and sides. I liked what I got, but it felt like work.

Drinks were also a mixed bag -- I'm used to the marg menu to show different levels of quality (and cost); this one seemed focus on the rainbow of flavors of margs you could get. When I did get a "top shelf," it was tasty but weak. Other drinks around the table were better received.

SERVICE: Dinner was slow in coming out, but our server was there every several minutes to check on us and to see if we wanted more drinks.

ATMOSPHERE: This is a new restaurant in an older building, and they have dropped a ton of money on decor. It feels almost over the top.

NET-NET: The parking lot was full when we arrived early on a Saturday night, so the locals seem to enjoy it. I would be willing to come back again if passing through Hot Springs, but I'm not sure it would be my...

Has a clean, authentic Mexican atmosphere. Food was great, service was mediocre; I needed a napkin and there was a slight issue with my meal, but no one checked back after serving my plate. I had to stop a waiter for the tab.

Ok, I wasn’t going to share anything negative but they are easy issues to resolve. There were two pieces of chicken bones in the chimichanga and the churros were solid grease. But again, overall the meal was good. No apology was offered, but maybe it was the language barrier. I thought they might take some off the total since I only tried one of churros, but no such luck, lol.

Nevertheless, the food was very good…. “I’ll be back!”

This is for Lulu who dropped the race card. If you read the other reviews you will find 6-7 people complained about being “ignored” by staff, including my review, by instead of searching for a way to be victimized I felt it was simply something they need to improve on. Stop living your life looking for ways to be a victim. These folks are of a different ethnic background, they were not ignoring you because your son is partly black, that’s such a pathetic comment. I have never written like this to another poster but your comment was so asinine that I couldn’t...

Visited today at early dinner and had steak fajitas, queso sausage and chips, and a flight of margaritas.

Seated very fast and served the usual chips and salsa, which was a nice salsa.

The order was taken fast and unfortunately the timing of everything was off because the appetizer came right with the main course. No time to enjoy the queso while the entree was getting cold, or vice versa. The portion of the fajita meat was overly generous but didn't balance with with only 3 flour tortillas and a small side of lettuce/pico and sour cream/guacamole. The fajitas steak and onions could have easily made 6 hefty 🌮🌮 servings. Also, the fajita meat didn't come sizzling, but it seems it was pre made and served on a hot plate. Flavor was good for the meat.

The flight of margaritas were so so. Regular flavor, blue curacao, mango ? and a vaguely strawberry flavor.

Another thing that was bothersome was the presence of flies at our table. Several times I had to shoo them away from the dishes 🪰🪰

Service was fast,...
