I'm writing this review after two bad encounters there. For starters the food is ok. If you have any roots from Louisiana then you know what I'm talking about. Secondly, the staff is fairly unfriendly. I really hate to go here in this review but i felt pretty discriminated against when i went there. I went to place a to go order. The man walked away and did other things and then took a phone call. Another younger man came to register and asked if i had been helped and i gave him my order. He was friendly and kind and we placed our order and sat down. The first man that kind of brushed me off, started to immediately taking the other patrons orders behind me. Everyone behind was of the Caucasian persuasion and i will leave it at that. The 4-6 people that places their order after me all got their food. My daughter and i sat and waited patiently and the original person that took my food came and asked what our order was. He went back and i assumed tried to get status on it. We continued to wait. Another wave of Atleast 6 people came in and the first one that ordered from that group received his meal and walked out. By this time almost 20 mins had past. I went up to counter and asked about my meal and the lady said here. Not friendly at all. So i said i waited for 20 mins and no one said anything? She said i called your number u didn't come up. I said no maam even your employee came and followed up when i had not been given my cup of soup and grilled cheese. She grew increasingly nasty and at that point i just walked away. Did not care to engage or escalate the situation more. This the second time this has happened. I hate to say it but both times it felt kinda racist in there. Not sure what it's about but probably good idea not to go back. They seem like a popular joint and many do like them and they came recommended but food is just ok. There's a pic posted above of the grilled cheese i ordered and waited 20 mins on . 🥺

Feel incredibly burned. Came here last year on a military training flight months ago. Pretty impressed with the free gumbo sampler for first timers and with my platter. Was in the area today and stopped back in. Grabbed a frozen quart of $15 seafood gumbo (choke, but ironically the cheapest) and ordered the $19 fried oyster basket to go (choke). But I assumed I would receive a styrofoam clamshell bursting with deep fried Kraken boogers. Oh , hell. When I was handed my to go bag I was perplexed at it’s feathery weight. Stupid me for not looking and forcing someone to explain to me how these tiny, clearly not US harvested, probably Mekong delta, tasteless oysters were worth $19 with a straight face. Then I thawed the gumbo, which I remembered being rich and heartily loaded with seafood. The container says crawfish (none), crab (some threads but not sure why they bothered), celery (none), green onion (I think maybe a teaspoon), onion (possibly), bell pepper (not sure), then we get to the shrimp. The shrimp were akin to what you feed aquarium fish, size wise. Slightly bigger. A dozen maybe. Pretty ticked I payed $15 for watery aquarium shrimp broth. The pics are practically what each spoon full was like. No way a culinary oversight.

Love, love, love this Cajun restaurant. Prices are reasonable and everything I have tried here is great. They have a wonderful Jalepeno Ranch dressing ( have to request it). Outside dining available and is very nice when the weather cooperates. Wait staff has always been friendly and helpful. Restaurant has always been very clean and orderly. Restrooms are always clean. Today, as always, I purchased desserts from Abe's along with lunch. The first two pictures are Hummingbird cake- a Southern favorite(banana cake with pineapple and pecans. The 3rd and 4th are Carrot cake also delicious. The last picture is a Brownie and a Pecan Praline brownie ( which is also very good). They have pie by the slice, bread pudding, cheesecake, and several other cake varieties. The desserts servings are as plentiful and tasty as the rest of the foods served at Abe's. Really is a great place to eat.

This review is NOT in regards to the food…..Today I called in an order for blackened chicken salad around 1pm. I went inside to pick it up and was disgusted by the behavior of one employee. Now mind you, I have been eating there for years, frequently grab lunch their a couple times a week. Today I came in, waited patiently for the ladies ahead of me to order their lunch. There was one young man lining the green tray baskets, another one placing orders on the tray to serve and the cashier. After the cashier took the ladies order they asked for big Styrofoam to go cups for their water. He left to get the cups, and then proceeded to CONTINUOUSLY REPEATEDLY run both of his hands through his HAIR for about a minute or longer then he proceeded to GRAB FOOD from the hot line and place it on the tray for the waiter to serve. He turned around and looked at me I gave him the most disgusted horrified look because, well..... I was HORRIFIED and I swiftly walked out. Who the heck runs their hands through their hair repeatedly then grabs food. I know that kitchen cooks and preppers don't follow all protocol and drop food, don’t wash their hands, drop food on the floor - that's Ok as long as KNOW ONE SEES IT. Out of sight out of mind. It will be quite awhile before I recommend anyone to eat there. And the person who did this is a tall white older kid with brown hair and had his ear lobes flopping around since he decided to put gauges in his lobes like a retard....

First time at Abe's Cajun Market today, and definitely not the last! I was treated to awesome service by Lasabreya (her name was on my receipt). As soon as she found out it was my first visit, she went out of her way to talk me through the menu, and when I asked about food ingredients to avoid due to my allergies, she went even further and helped me analyze all the dishes I was considering, even going so far as to ask the kitchen if they fried in peanut oil so I could be safe (she did this without me even asking!)

Then, she came out from behind the counter to show me where everything was: silverware, drink station, and how to listen for my order so it would be brought to me ❤️ This kind of service was repeated for customers after me, and she obviously knew her regulars and greeted them all warmly.

The food I got was delicious, even more since I knew it was safe for me. (Blackened catfish, coleslaw and green beans - all VERY flavorful).

I really felt valued and seen, and for me, this goes a long way since my dining options are so limited by my allergies. Some people are in the restaurant "business" bc it is a paycheck, and some people have such a big heart, they want to make people comfortable and feel like guests in their home. That's how I...
