Denny's — Restaurant in Houston

I am currently at Denny's right now. Chinatown. When I walked in there was no one at the front to great me. I sat down in the very back because when me and my husband first met this is the table we sat at every time we came here. I visited many Denny's and this one is by far the worst. No one came to my table for 20 minutes. There are two servers now one male who has dreadlocks in his hair and his pants sagging below his waist. When I decided to get up and go to my car this gentleman said thanks for coming. I responded with a thanks. I know that he seen me when I came in because when I walked past him on my way in. He was carrying a child's high chair and said hello. I said hey. I and another gentleman came in at the same time on my return back into the Denny's. I walked past the same gentleman on the waitstaff. I sat at the same table the other guy at another table. The same waitstaff with the dreadlocks can to the other guy before me and sat a menu in front of him and ask for his beverage of choice. I looked my way and kept walking. On his return to bring the guy his beverage he asked me did I want something to eat. It made me laugh in the inside. But I smiled and said yes. In my mind I said well why would I sit he for so long if I didn't want something to eat. Who sits in a dine in restaurant for 20 minutes the first time leave for 2 minutes come back Ahmad sit for another 15 minutes if I wasn't hungry. But ok. I already knew what I wanted when he came back with the menu. The food came quickly but they where out of season fries. Not his fault. I went with regular fries. Let's seee how long it takes to ask if I need a refill or if the food was ok......I'm back! I finished most of my fries and most of my ribeye Philly cheese steak sandwich. About 3 more bits from being finish he comes to the other guys table and brings him his food. Comes back 2 minutes later to his table sets down something and comes and stops a whole table distance from my table and ask am I ok. And at the same time he was asking me he was walking away. I said wait. I said no mushrooms and there mushrooms on my sandwich. He said oh I told him no mushrooms. I responded and said no worries I picked them off. Thank god they only make my stomach hurt and not swell and can't breath. I'd be dead if I left it up to the waitstaff to have a quick reaction and call 911. He left for about 5 minutes and came back with the tab. $12.85. I was never asked if I was upset about the mistake and if I wanted to speak to a manager. No biggie! Why have I given such details. I work for LUBYS. It's a cafeteria. And I've worked for many restraints from up savage dinning to sports bar and grill. If I did this at lubys I'd be fired. It's 9:05. I'm about to pay my tab. The food was delicious. I am a very big fan. I dine at Denny's 1 or twice every week. I love the food. And the prices. My waiter has not returned to tell me thanks for coming have a goodnight nothing. Walking away now. He's standing at the front stretching. He said to me oh you done. Ight where's your boyfriend at? I laugh out loud and told him I'm married. I'm 31 years old and I appreciate professionalism. This waiter had none what so ever. I will not return because once this complaint is recognized they will know exactly who I am. There where all of 3 tables to night during my stay. Party of 4. And 2 parties of 1. But it was very clean as always. Quit and cold....

So I just finished leaving this Denny's and let me tell you the service and manner in how they treat certain people is horrendous..

I just finished my morning workout at Planet fitness down the street and was excited to grab breakfast at this establishment. (I'm from Miami and the first and my favorite Denny's is in coral gables) this one would be considerably my least likeable one.

From the very beginning I wanted to find and outlet to charge my phone before I made the attempt to sit down and order something. The host/waiter was already pretty dismissive and was barely helpful in terms of showing me the nearest outlet.. mind you there was only one couple that was in there and they were already done with their food (they're chit-chatting) so the same host/waiter isn't busy.. so he doesn't even bother to offer a water or coffee simply nothing... Doesn't even bat a lash. So 15 minutes in I'm inviting a friend to come have breakfast with me so I'm just waiting while charging my phone at this point. 10 minutes later one of the Denny's employees can visibly see that I'm charging my phone. But then simply disconnects my charger abruptly and with no warning or anything. . And I'm like okay that's fine in 7 minutes my friend is coming and we'll at least enjoy breakfast. I'm hungry.. 3 minutes later. The same host/waiter comes out of nowhere and tells me (mind you, the same one who never offered watered or seem to care about my existence) tells me.. "oh my boss said if you aren't going to order anything youre goig to have to leave." And I'm just so taken back from that that it ruined my appetite and I simply left elsewhere.. I'm from Miami the Denny's in coral gables is a shining example of excellence service.. (which I've gone for over 2 decades!!) and this location needs to learn from them because 2 decades and I've never been treated the way I was...

3 to 4 tables in the whole place are busy so our waitress was very attentive. First issue potatoes were not warm and brown gravey salty. Second issue the creamed corn was just a bowel of corn. But my meatloaf was good and that's the main deal. Granddaughters $5 bowel of mac and cheese loomsime a box of store brand. Yuck. But grandson Jr Rooty Tooty was a home run. Over all a passable meal so I wasent going to complain. Ticket was 22.57. I handed the store manger, whom never even asked how things were,$30.57. He handed me back 2 ones, made me look twice but the 2 toddlers had me distracted...drove down the road telling myself this isent right so I call the manger, he never says Oh I'm sorry...just that he must have missed the $5...ahhh ok. I was able to circle back by the place shortly as I live a hour away and walked in and he goes on yeah your 5 and hands me 5 ones. Our waitress looked confused then I told her I was getting my correct change and her mouth dropped open....Now I'm not a math whiz but 30.57 -22.57=8...not 2 not 7..but 8 Which at this point I laughed and said if the manager needed my buck that bad he was...
