I have only had dim sum at five restaurants in or around Houston but I can easily say that the dim sum at HK is the best that I have enjoyed in H-town.

A wide variety of dim sum dishes, other appetizers and some of the Chinese main dishes are promoted to you on a picture filled menu. Also there is a full menu of Chinese main dishes from which to choose. Your final choices must then be noted on a separate order slip on which you also have the option for choosing a small or large serving for many of the dishes.

My companion and I ordered separate dishes of 4 dim sum containing crab and mince pork fillings. We also got one main dish of Singapore noodles, an appetizer of fried egg rolls and a appetizer of barbecue pork.

We shared and thoroughly enjoyed each and every dish. Of course this was way too much food for two people and we were able to enjoy another full meal with the leftovers that we took away.

The egg rolls were exquisite with a light crunchy coating that was perfectly fried around a moist and flavorful egg roll filling. The Singapore noodles were well prepared with what appeared to be a zestful dose of saffron to compliment the slices of pork and pieces of squid that were included.

The dim sum was moist with an excellent texture which allowed a brief interlude of chewing to enable the wonderful flavors of the fillings to escape and enchant your palate before being delicately swallowed to satisfy your hunger.

The restaurant always seems to have a good number of customers in its relatively small space. This slows down the service time a bit from other Chinese restaurants that serve just okay food but have you in and out the door in 15 minutes. However, the decor is pleasant and offers a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy the green tea (by far the best green tea that I have had in the last year)

I think my next trip to HK will be during off peak hours for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack of a pot of green tea and a plate of 4 dim sum. This can be done for under $10 and will be much more enjoyable than a latte and muffin at Starbucks which will cost...

BE CAREFUL EATING HERE. I am sorry to leave this review because I am sure the owners of this restaurant did not intend to have a disgrace for a restaurant, but today I tasted the most disgusting food I have ever put in my mouth and it was at HK Dim Dum and that’s the truth. I have had dim sum all over Asia, North America, and other countries (I travel internationally a whole lot, on average 52 international flights a year) and what I ate today was anything but dim sum. Infact all it was was mushed up seafood in an overly sticky and excessively grainy substance that all broke apart letting the filling Spill out. It also smelled rotten clearly been frozen and defrosted multiple times. Unfortunately for me I’ll end up taking antibiotics for the inevitable food poisoning that will come from me managing to eat just one of the shrimp dim sum.

service wise, the male waitress was extreamly unfriendly. I am quite timid and I give off a very mellow vibe so why he was so rude to me was perplexing. The final straw was when I asked if they had another bottle of soy sauce without a broken top and glass in the bottle (which is in itself ridiculous to find broken glass shards in a bottle of soy sauce, carelessly left open on a table for flies and other germs the fester is beyond mind blowing) he literally hissed at me and walked off. I swiftly asked for the bill which amounted to $36.40, I paid for it despite not eating any of the disgust presented to me as food for humans, left a $0 tip and walked out.

NEVER EVER AGAIN. This place should be inspectEd by the health authorities and closed down. We as tax paying citizens should not be exposed...

I've grown to become very disappointed with this restaurant after so many visits. I was first introduced to this place through a former friend. My first impression was that the prices were more on the high end of what dim sum should really be. That still did not stop me from my continued visits, as the food never failed to disappoint me. My favorites would probably be the chicken feet, flat noodles with shrimp, and the dumplings. The reason I give this restaurant two stars, however, is because of the waitress that has been working there during my last few visits. She wears glasses and is by far the rudest waitress I have ever encountered. During one of my visits, she sat a family of 5 down at a round table near the kitchen, served them their drinks & took their order. Then, she comes back a couple of minutes later and tells them they need to move to one of the smaller tables close to the entrance door because she was about to start cleaning the restaurant in time for closing. The family told her they would not fit in the table, but the waitress insisted they move because she needed to clean. The family seemed humble, so they cooperated with her. She delivers the food, and then asks how long they were going to take because they were about to close. Like, seriously? My boyfriend and I could not help but turn around and give her a confused look. During another visit, the same lady kept taking our plates away without us even finishing everything. She wouldn't even ask if we were done with the plates. Overall, terrible...

Looking for a great little Dim Sum spot? Try HK.! It's budget friendly, made to order, fresh, great portion sizes, and just plain delicious. At other spots around town, we'd walk about $100 a person or more for dim sum. Here, $20 a person and you're stuffed! Found a new favorite to try at other spots. 42, 43, or 49. Two of these 3 we ordered. One had a super crispy and flaky crust with a shrimp center. It was just delicious! The other was super soft rolled and stuffed with all sorts of goodies. Meat, mushrooms, etc. I believe it was a bean paste roll. I'll get this every time now. This is one that won't disappoint. They were attentive, not one negative item to point out here. There's plenty of parking here, also a number of parking garages. During prime time hours, it can get a little packed. We already have plans to go back for more this weekend. Until next time.

2 star is for the service; but for the food, I give 1 star. The food is not authentic; quality is not good. We ordered 8 items so far, none of them worth trying. The steamed buns in Shanghai style had chives in there, I've never eaten Shanghai style buns with chives! And the main thing is the buns didn't taste good at all. The rice noodles (cheung fun) were very sticky, not sure if they were cooked. The dipping sauce for the rice noodles was so little, about 2 teaspoons. Some of the dishes were extremely salty. We will not revisit anytime soon. The food quality went down.
