I recently had the opportunity to dine at Eric's Restaurant at the Hilton, and while my experience had its moments of promise, it ultimately fell short of the high standards I expected from a full-service Hilton venue. Upon entering, the ambiance was pleasant and welcoming, setting a nice tone for the evening. However, as the meal progressed, it became clear that the food itself was mediocre at best. I was particularly looking forward to the French onion soup, a dish I believe should be a hallmark of any reputable restaurant. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a misunderstanding in its preparation. I had to send it back as it was not OK, which diminished the overall experience. Other dishes on the menu similarly failed to impress. While they were presented nicely, the flavors did not stand out, leaving a sense of disappointment. For a restaurant associated with such a reputable hotel chain, I expected more inventive and thoughtfully executed dishes. Moreover, the service was not as attentive as one might hope. Our server seemed overwhelmed and had difficulty addressing our questions about the menu, which added to the overall sense of disorganization during our meal. In conclusion, while Eric's Restaurant has a lovely setting and some potential, the food and service do not reflect the level of quality expected from a Hilton establishment. It’s unfortunate, as I believe with some adjustments, it could elevate its dining experience significantly. For now, I would recommend exploring other options...
Read moreThis location is a hidden treasure in plain sight. As a student at the university, this restaurant deserves a five-star rating for various reasons:
Exclusivity. Students have no idea about this restaurant that some walk by every day. As this restaurant is part of the Hilton on campus, most don't consider it as a place to dine. If seated near the window during the busiest part of a school day the feeling of exclusivity stems from the quiet and calm of the restaurant, while looking out at high pedestrian traffic.
Wifi. As one might expect, the university-wide free wireless connection reaches the restaurant.
Model Customer Service. The service that one would expect from any establishment that provides a service is here. The managers casually gauge the customers' needs and satisfaction along with the waiters/waitresses. When not attending to a customer, they very quietly converse with each other with light conversation--they appear to get along well.
Great Study Location. As a combination of all previous points, this restaurant is my favorite place to study. I've stayed in the restaurant for over six hours at a time and, while I make sure I at least eat one meal there, the staff will still check-up on me in case I need anything.
The Wall Street Journal. There are copies of the Journal for you to read while you're there.
Food Rating. If this rating was based on the food alone, I would rate it somewhere between a three-star and...
Read moreThis used to be our regular Sunday lunch spot. The food used to be above average although a bit overpriced for the small portions. The quiet atmosphere made it a great place to meet for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately something has changed. We went there two weeks ago service was good not great but the food was undercooked especially the salmon. This was in spite of ordering the fish well done. That trip was salvaged by the staff who made sure the fish was recooked and was sincerely apologetic and recognized the problem. The original serving was basically raw. Since we were treated fairly we returned for lunch today. Oh my! The service was non existent if I hadn’t of went to the receptionist after a half an hour of waiting we would not have gotten served. We made sure the person who waited on us knew that the fish needed to be well done. To cut this short we were served raw salmon. The Eric’s burger ordered medium was served rare. The salmon was sent back and when it was returned to the table it was still raw not even opeque. We are not folks so we just asked for to go boxes and paid the bill. The wait staff was not rude but an apology would have appreciated. We are regular travelers and Hilton honors members so we will make sure Hilton does not get our travel dollars. We had a few laughs at the sign exiting th restaurant that says world peace through hospitality. No world...
