This restaurant is in a strip mall which is not in the best location. The interior is not great at all. The floor had food all over it.
There was no one in the restaurant when we arrived around noon on a Saturday but one group came in around 1PM.
The waitress was extremely nice and one other person (maybe the chef) came to talk to us and was extremely nice as well.
We ordered: Fiery Dosa: I did not order it but I tried it and it was soggy and not very tasty. The person that ordered it agreed. Fiery Idlis: I did not care for it that much but one guest gave it a 4/5. The coconut chutney that came with it was not good. Kanchipuram Idlis: We were told that this order takes a while to make so we ordered it first. We all agreed that this dish was not that good. Mango Lassi: We all liked the drink 4/5 I ordered the Thali along with one other person: The pickle was excellent. The buttermilk was good, it did not have the extremely sour taste that most other restaurants have. The Sambhar was good. One of the vegetables was great I can't remember which one. The other vegetable was not good. The roti/chappati was definitely not made in house and resembled a store bought tortilla. We did not like the rasgula.
Overall we all said we would definitely not come back...
Read moreFlying Idlis offers a unique twist to South Indian cuisine, blending traditional flavors with inventive creations. The Magic Floating Idlis, adorned with onions, coriander, and gunpowder-soaked in rich sambhar, provided a delightful fusion of textures and tastes. The Blazing Fiery Idlis, featuring a bold mix of rice, lentils, butter, onions, and schezwan sauce, showcased a fiery kick that might appeal to spice enthusiasts. The Blazing Fiery Masala Dosa, a crispy crepe layered with schezwan sauce, red chili powder, onions, cilantro, and a secret seasoning, added a zesty dimension to the menu.
While the dishes were not bad, they fell short of creating a lasting impression. The Magic Floating Idlis offered a novel experience, but the flavors didn't quite harmonize seamlessly. The Blazing Fiery Idlis and Masala Dosa, though bold in concept, struggled to balance the intensity of spices, slightly overpowering the natural taste of the ingredients.
Overall, Flying Idlis offers a decent dining experience with its innovative approach to South Indian classics. However, the execution, particularly in achieving a harmonious flavor balance, leaves room for improvement. A middle-of-the-road rating reflects the restaurant's potential but suggests refinement is needed...

SERVICE đ
The owner and the staff both are cheerful and provide the best service. When I mention about service, I consider the below checklist - Do they know about their food well and they are able to answer your questions satisfactorily. Do they deliver the food within the timeframe that they claim Do the tables, plates, spoon and the surrounding is clean enough for you to eat. Are they friendly and approachable.
