This is my second time at Gerry’s grill. Food is great, but customer service can be better. I gave two starts because of the waitress who cashed me out. BTW, they don’t hand you a paper copy of your receipt (which is fine, save the earth) but they instead come to the table, tell you what they are charging you for, take your card, swipe it for you, and give you directions on what to do next. The direction I was told was click here and sign, so I did just that, I clicked the button and signed (I’m thinking that the tip was included or that it would prompt me to do so, after I click the tab) but it did not, so the waitress rudely conveyed that the tip was not included, which I then replied and said I’m sorry I didn’t know when I had to include the tip, but she rudely walked off and said let me get the receipt for you, which tells me that they aren’t trying to save paper, it’s a tactic that allows them to hover above you, to ensure that you tip them. I asked her if I could write down the tip on the receipt (I’m thinking that they could make adjustments to the receipt) but as she walked away rolling her eyes, she again rudely conveyed that it was not possible because I had closed out the ticket, which I can only assume could be reopened so that I could provide the tip. I understand that servers make their salary via tip, so I understood why she would be upset, but I did simply did not know how their systems work and my request to add the tip was rejected because I had already closed the tab, which can be reopened, I’m assuming. My first visit was exactly the same, click the tab and sign, so I did just that, this time, which I’m now realizing that the waitress had already added the tip. Which BTW, I noticed this too, when the waitress took my card, swiped it, and as I was reaching for my card back, she retracted it back and pushed the iPad towards me urging me to sign the iPad first before I could get my card back .

For a Filipino establishment, my interactions has been either blatant disrespect or subtle inappropriate acts. I will never come back to this...

After a long drive, we were looking forward to trying this Filipino restaurant tucked in a restaurant complex beside a hotel. Gerry’s Grill is synonymous to a food fest in the Philippines, so we came hungry.

I have to say we were put off with how sticky the tables were, like it had been painted a layer of goop so nothing slipped off. Wiping with napkins made it worse, as it stuck to the table and made a mess.

To start, we had Calamansi juice, though it was not from the fresh citrus fruit but a concentrate, a bit too sweet, and would not recommend to those watching their sugar.

Appetizers came quickly, we ordered Chicharong Bulaklak, Spicy Tuna Poké and Kilawin. The fam loved how the ruffle fat was well seasoned and very airy and crunchy, no rubbery spots. Vinegar dipping sauce was on point. The Tuna Poké came with crispy wontons and a mayo sauce, don’t expect sashimi grade tuna here, yet it was still flavorful. It just came with a mountain of wontons, half would have sufficed. The Kilawin is a mix of Grilled Pork Belly and Kinilaw na Tuna, which was a winner for me.

The entrees came, we had Crispy Pata which was a whopping size for $30+, had all the plus points for flavor, crispy skin and dipping sauce. Grilled Baby Squid was yummy but we were not expecting a bunch on our plate. We also got the Pancit Bihon with crispy belly toppings. Didn’t really wow me.

Lastly, the diabetic in the group had the Halo-halo. 🙄 It was served in a tall glass, so if you’re expecting a bowl style, that’s from another resto 😆, nonetheless, it was not cloyingly sweet.

Apart from the table issue, we had a...

We always have a great time whenever we visit and eat at Gerry's grill. We noticed the beautiful decor and added plants in their chandeliers that made the place look more classy.. we like the new tables and set up more. The restrooms are also clean. Food is always appetizing, delicious and fresh. We loved the Crispy Pata very crunchy and seasoned well, meat was really tender. But the sauce was kinda too sweet for us. We like more vinegar with it. We enjoyed the grilled pork with fresh tuna. It was our favorite. The sauce paired well with our crispy pork knuckles and pancit canton. We also had a bangus sisig carry out but its not as yummy as i expected, it was just ok. Might need a little improvement to taste better. Lastly, the superstars of desserts, of course, the shaved iced that's super creamy in halo halo and iced gulaman to beat the summer heat. That super tasty pinipig crunch and ube ice cream was heavenly.. I just wished they put halo halo in a bigger, taller glass like the gulaman. It felt too crammed in a regular drinking glass. But it's still very yummy. Pricing was just right. Our server Lorna was accomodating, friendly and funny, attentive and courteous. She even offered us info about the latest happenings, shows and events which is awesome. The Manager, Mr.Dennis was also extraordinary as always. Making guests feel welcome and at home. It's like having a get together at your family's place for Sunday feels. It was definitely a good place to go to for comfort food. I Highly recommend this place. We will surely come back. Great place for parties...

I was very excited to try this place out. I travel for work and sometimes go to Houston. Finally, I decided to swing by. I ordered "sizzling" sisig and tortang talong. Food was lukewarm. The sisig is not sizzling different than how I get them in other filipino restaurants in Dallas. Tortang talong was so disappointing for $6.99 it did not have salt in it. Nobody checked in on me on how I was doing. I didn't know how to pay - whether they'll give me my tab or I have to go to them. I needed to use the restroom so I want to make sure to pay first so they won't think I ran away without paying. One of the employees followed me with my Togo bag and I told him I'm not done yet I'm just waiting on someone so I can pay and use the restroom afterwards and to please don't throw away things. Well, I came back from the restroom and they threw away my halo-halo! I've only eaten half and was saving the leftover to enjoy on my trip. Funny because they left the trash on the table and only took the cups. I told the manager "ate, they threw away my halo-halo" - I was stupid enough to think she would do something about it but all she said was "awe". All she can say was "awe" 🥺 as if that made me feel better. I laughed and told myself, as much as I want to support my kababayans, I will never go back. Spent $43 here by myself. I could've gone to Jollibee and get better food for the whole family. They don't value my hard earned money, I won't support their business.
