Hando Temaki Sushi Bar: A Must-Visit Gem in Spring Branch Hando is not just another sushi spot—it’s a culinary experience that redefines what it means to enjoy temaki sushi. Nestled in the heart of Houston’s Spring Branch neighborhood, this hidden gem offers an unforgettable dining experience that blends incredible food, inviting ambiance, and exceptional service. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with a sleek, modern design and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The standout feature is the sushi bar itself, where chefs craft hand rolls with precision right in front of you. Watching the artistry unfold adds a personal touch that elevates the entire dining experience. The menu is a celebration of fresh, high-quality ingredients. Each temaki roll bursts with flavor and is perfectly balanced—crispy seaweed wraps, warm rice, and pristine cuts of fish that melt in your mouth. Whether you’re indulging in classic favorites like salmon and tuna or venturing into creative offerings with unique flavor profiles, every bite feels like a revelation. Beyond the food, Hando delivers an intimate, interactive dining experience that makes you feel connected to the craft of sushi-making. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, eager to recommend rolls or pairings to enhance your meal. Located in Spring Branch, Hando is a perfect reflection of Houston’s vibrant culinary scene—diverse, innovative, and unmissable. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or new to temaki, this spot promises an experience you won’t forget. Rating: 5/5 Must-Try: Spicy Tuna Temaki, Hamachi, and the Chef’s Specials Hando is the perfect place for a casual night out or a unique date spot. Make sure to arrive early; the word is out, and this Spring Branch treasure is getting the attention it deserves!

Last time I came here was for Kanpai Club (the speakeasy) in the back but I was finally able to try the restaurant. My friend and I came in during lunch time so we were able to try their lunch course menu which is $21 each. We both got the handroll set that consisted of Spicy Tuna, yellowtail, and salmon (there are two other options that are listed in the menu). I got the curry croquette for the small plate option and my friend got the matchstick salad. As for appetizers (separate from the Prix Fixe Lunch), we ordered the Salmon Kama. Initially we were worried that it wouldn’t be enough but we were both quite full by the end so it’s definitely worth! Although the matchstick salad is a nice refreshing start to the meal, the curry croquette is delicious- perfectly fried with the savory rich curry sauce that everyone loves. As for the handrolls, they were all delicious- the salmon roll was our favorite! Speaking of salmon, the salmon kama was fantastic too. I will say there are a lot of bones so do be careful if you order this but it’s a great appetizer choice if you’re craving more fish. Aside from the delicious meal, the ambiance inside is nicely set up and the service was fantastic!

I can eat five of the blue crab hand rolls. We came here for a late dinner and were seated right away. This is their second location and the space was bigger than the Heights location. Very modern and minimalistic interior. I opted for the 4 piece set but also wanted to add in the toro hand roll. The set comes with spicy tuna, salmon, blue crab, and fried oyster. The set option doesn't allow substitution so you can add in additional hand roll. I have always love the blue crab hand roll but the fried oyster was also really good. After 4 hand rolls, you will start getting full. I like that they give you a good amount of rice per hand roll so it doesn't overshadow the flavor. Service was friendly and quick. The seats are set up as bar style so may not be ideal for a group. They were nice to let us sit at the corner for our group of 6 so we could talk to each other. I'm glad Hando has opened in SB, it's a great addition.

Title: Hando, More like Hell-no: A Disappointing Experience

As a parent, finding a kid-friendly spot can be a challenge, and Hando Sushi in Houston Spring Branch certainly doesn't make the cut. Their seating arrangement is limited to a continuous u-shaped full bar with raised seating, making it uncomfortable for families or those with accessibility needs.

Navigating through their confusing ordering process is like trying to find your way through a maze blindfolded. With no clear direction on who to direct your requests to, you're left feeling lost and frustrated.

To make matters worse, the staff hovers over you like vultures as you attempt to decipher the menu, adding unnecessary pressure to an already stressful situation.

And let's talk about their so-called sushi. It's more like mini hand rolls, and I mean miniature. While the flavors may be decent, it's far from traditional sushi. It feels more like you're at a bar serving finger food rather than a legitimate sushi restaurant.

But the disappointment doesn't end there. Forgetful staff, misplaced tickets, and even finding a hair in their spicy sauce make for an unpleasant dining experience. And don't even get me started on the state of the women's restrooms. For a place that's only been open since January, you'd think they would have had time to clean them.

Oh, and did I mention they couldn't even bother to cut the hand rolls for those who wanted to share? It's the little things that count, and Hando Sushi fails miserably in that department.

Overall, save yourself the trouble and skip Hando Sushi. There are plenty of other sushi spots in Houston that actually live up...
