JLB Eatery Royal Oaks — Restaurant in Houston

We stopped by for lunch today - our second visit in the two weeks since they opened!  It was a dreary, rainy day and we wanted some good comfort food.  At our first visit, we had their trademark JLB Burger and fries - top notch on both counts and that freshly baked homemade bun sealed the deal!  We've decided we want to work our way through the entire menu over time.  Today's choice for us both was the Patty Melt.  He got his all the way with fries and I got mine minus the mayo and grilled onions with extra crispy tater tots.   Next level good!  The egg was a surprising inclusion - we haven't seen egg on patty melts elsewhere but it definitely added another layer of flavor.   The service was great too!  While my husband is a "take it as it comes" eater, I'm a "hold the this and that" eater so there's usually a risk for error(s) on my order.  Nope, not here!  The person taking my order was attentive and so was the kitchen - my order came out just as I wanted it, crispy tots and all.  We'll definitely be regulars and are already contemplating what menu item(s) to try next!  Any suggestions?

Well, we did it again! We were in the area tonight and couldn’t pass up another opportunity to eat here. The third time was just as good as the first two! My hubby intended to try something new but after talking up the burger to a first-timer in line behind us, his mouth was watering for one. He went with the bacon cheeseburger and it did not disappoint! I stuck to my intent to work my way through the menu and decided to go with the bacon avocado chicken sandwich combo. Even with all my “hold the” modifications, the kitchen got it right and it was delicious… and huge! I’ll be having the rest of my sandwich and fries for lunch tomorrow. Can’t wait! Everything we’ve had has been fantastic and the customer service is top-notch too! There’s no question we’ll be back. The only question is when and what...

Let me start by giving major credit to the cook in the back absolutely phenomenal work. Without even asking, everything was cooked to near perfection. The meats were fully cooked yet juicy, and the flavors were spot on. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, steak melt, and chili cheese tater tots, and honestly, I have zero complaints.

The prices are fair no overpriced gimmicks, just quality food at a reasonable cost. I always make an effort to support small businesses when I can, and this place is definitely one worth backing.

The service was great as well. The waitress/receptionist was sweet and attentive, juggling customers and phone orders effortlessly. I was surprised to learn that this establishment has only been open for about seven months because they already operate like a well seasoned spot.

Now, let’s talk about the bread. You can tell they bake their buns and sandwich bread in house, and that makes all the difference. People often focus on the quality of the meat, but the bread is just as important and here, it truly elevates the burgers and sandwiches.

Overall, a fantastic experience. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends and family. If you’re looking for great food, fair prices, and a spot that values...

I'd heard about this place that opened about a month ago in Royal Oaks although they have other locations. I finally made it there last night with a gym buddy who'd also heard of it but never been.. Absolutely the best hamburger I've had in years if ever! The fries were hand cut, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and the onion rings....OMG. The best I'd had since high school days! The bread is made on site fresh daily and the beef is Angus Beef with quality ingredients through and through. I highly recommend this place if you want a great burger with many other delights including fried shrimp (cornmeal version, too), fried catfish, even fried Oreos. I returned with a neighbor and her husband tonight as we'd talked about going and they wanted to take me so what could I say? I had the cornmeal fried shrimp and, JR, our delightful host, treated us to a fried Oreo each (I'd never had but heard of for years) which was amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND....loved the comment...
