LA Crawfish Shack — Restaurant in Houston

I was there yesterday for my birthday because I love the food.....but the customer service is horrible. They have gratuity calculated in our bill but u have to wait 30 mins for crabs. I ordered 5 lbs in total for me and my niece and nephew. Over 200 spent on a ticket. One of the other guess that was on a different ticket complained and refused to pay the gratuity but pay for her food and left. I sat at the table alone finishing my food.... When the waiter finally returned I asked if my ticket had been paid since I didn't see it. He stated yes it has been and was friendly but as I walk to the door to leave the manager and a police officer stop me at the door in front of everybody to say that I was not leaving without paying my ticket. After asking how much it was because its not enough to argue and get embarrassed and to just be done. I went to sit my bag down and the cop came at me like he was going to tackle me. I have never been so angry as he and the manager stood there being disrespectful and talking to me like I did something when mind u this was not my bill mine was paid. I never even knew Wht was going on or asked about it before the police was called for $3. I paid it because to me it was nt worth the argument. I will never spend money here....no customer service very disrespectful. The service is horrible and even the management is sorry. They don't care about the customers. I will never go again. I took my friend there for crawfish, and I ordered the shrimp and catfish basket. When I got my food it looked very appealing but when I taste it, it wasn't. The shrimp breading was hard and gummy. I gave one to my friend so she could see if it was the same to her. It was! I told the waiter and he went to get the manager. The manager stated that the shrimp looked fine and he had to take it to the cook. Being that my parents are professional cooks and chefs and have their own restaurant I immediately knew what was wrong with the shrimp; the breading was old. I explained this to the manager when he came back and said that I was going to be charged for the horrible shrimp eaten along with an additional 25%. He further went on to explain that he knows that the breading is not old because it changed out daily! Wrong answer manager! Any type of breading needs to be changed periodically throughout the day! After your damp food hits it, it puts moisture in the breading causing it to clump. After a couple of batches, change the breading! If you don't, you get shrimp that is hard and gummy! Rule of thumb, if the breading becomes clumpy, it's time to refresh it. And to add further I order catfish and got tilapia. Some of us seafood fanatics know the difference in the two from texture and taste. It was a horrible experience that I paid full price for and barely ate the horrible meal. WORST SERVICE EVER!! EVERYONE WAS ON THEIR PHONE. The food was good however I hate the service. I am not a rude person or nothing. Me and my sister just move in the area we were looking for a place to eat and decided to go check it out. Worst idea ever. We walked in and waited to get seated. The host is on her phone. Didn’t care to even ask us or seat us until 20mins later when the chef in the back came out and told her. Mind you we are the only people in the waiting area. She finally came and ask us with a attitude if we dinning in. We said yes. She seated us and ask if we needed a high chair for my 8months old twins. We said yes. She only brought one high chair. Knowing we had two babies. We still was very polite and said thank you. She give us the menu and left. 30mins later no one has asked us what we drinking or even came to our table. We finally call a waiter and ask for a server. She went back and ask who serving us. Someone came got our order. We order 2pounds of crawfish and other item. We got our food but no gloves to eat our crawfish. Our server left and never came back to ask if we needed anything. We had to call him abt 45mins later and just ask for a to go plate to take the crawfish home. We pay for our food tip him and left. The service is terrible.
