I would give 3.5 stars but since it has to be a whole one i choose down. What I did not like is even though they have chairs, they would not allow an old lady with mobility issues to use a chair to sit in shade in the dog park and told me it is against the dog park rules to bring a chair in, yet NO such rule is posted ANYWHERE in the park or online. They told me I could stand in the shade or sit in the direct sun in 90+ degree weather. In fact, the posted rules state that park furniture MAY be moved within the park as long as it is being used for its intended purpose. I'm posting a picture. No where does it say anywhere within the park EXCEPT in the dog park. I wanted to use the chair to sit in. Therefore i was following park rules and the park attendents were treating me unkindly without cause. Perhaps because I'm Caucasian? It seems like people think its okay to treat Caucasian people poorly. I never treat anyone in any way based on the shade of their skin but recently i have found other people not to be like minded. I think everyone should be treated with kindness...The park is small but clean and well maintained. There's 2 workout areas, a playground, a path to walk, gardens, bathrooms, plenty of seating outside the dog park. The dog park IS secure for small dogs. It's small with some hills and a water fountain. It also has 4 pokestops and a gym for those that...
Read moreThis is a beautiful park for all ages. For an occasional quick walk, we enjoy checking out the Texas native plants, the small community garden, and making our way around. The park is nicely kept, as they try to do earth friendly maintenance around the property. The newsletter keeps visitors up to date on neat programming events like pop up soccer for the kids. The attendant and security staff on-site are nice and courteous.
We enjoy City of Houston parks too, except their reservation system is really difficult to navigate for planned gatherings. We were happy to find this one as Woodchase is one of the few parks in town that is easier to reserve with lots of guest parking.
In the future, it would be great if the park could add more trees, shrubs, and planting along the trail by the freeway. Also, the dog park is currently one space for all dogs and there isn’t a big/small designation. I guess since it’s a small dog park, then people can look and take turns on when to take...
Read moreWARNING! I was walking at the park at 11AM. There was no one at the park but later 2 black men in a car appeared and one got out with a small towel in his hand and approached me. It seemed that he was going to kidnap me using the towel to place it over my nose and sleep me. I ran as far as possible to the street and away from the park! Please be aware DONT WALK ALONE AND HAVE PEPPER SPRAY OR A GUN IF POSSIBLE. Thank God I saw them and figured it out what they were trying to do! If you are a woman BE CAUTIOUS! Get a guard dog if you walk alone or any tool to...
