McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Houston

I reordered the same item that I had originally ordered back in the spring semester and it was good that time. I finally get a chance this month to go, I get there and it’s a line, but it was moving so I was chilling. I get to the register and tell the cashier my order and she’s asking questions that seem like she wasn’t understanding what exactly I was saying, and I realize that the exact same order was not the same that I was expecting( I was originally charged back in April about 22 dollars). I check the card machine and it’s damn near 32 dollars???? She turns around and when my receipt is done printing, I grab it to see what exactly I was charged: 1 club wrap, no tomatoes, add protein which was chicken that showed 4.75, spinach under another thing, I asked her, and then the second club wrap at 12.28, I’m confused bc they should be the same price right??? So I when I pick up my order, they looked good, normal, and when I asked the question about what the spinach charge was, I was good but still confused as to why it seemed so expensive. I start going home, search through my transactions on my card and find it, the 10 dollar increase!! So I get mad on my way home, but think nothing of it because because I’m going to eat them later (right now) with my sister. I finally open both of the boxes, AND BOTH WRAPS WERE MISSING MY CHICKEN ORDERED, ONLY ONE WRAP DIDNT HAVE TOMATOES, AND ONE OF THEM HAD AVOCADO. I know this was my fault for not double checking right there, but still. I was charged 10 extra dollars for less than I expected. Very disappointing, never coming here again!! AND IT WASNT...

Since I'm living across from the University of Houston for this summer, I was looking forward to visiting this location a number of times. I'm a big fan of McAlister's sweet tea and other goods - which makes this place all the more disappointing for its horrible hours.

I drove by in the afternoons on several occasions to consider going but it always looked closed (chairs flipped and lights out). It wasn't until later that I discovered on the front door that it is only open from 10am to 5pm and have NO WEEKENDS! Because my job downtown is from 9am to 5pm and free on weekends, this location is completely worthless to me. I could try other locations in the Houston area but they're all too far away - on the outer reaches of the city in fact. (sigh) I understand this is characteristic of other university-bound places elsewhere but it just doesn't make any sense because other restaurants are open within sight of it well into the night.

I am only rating this review based on poor "service" category due to this reason - I can only assume that other aspects would be as excellent other McA's I've been to but I leave these blank since I'm unable to see them for myself anyhow.

Btw: if you're trying to come here be sure to park somewhere else. This location is next to a parking garage but this is restricted to UH faculty, etc only and there is only a concrete curb (with zero elbow room) to drop others off. Good luck with that. Or, for that matter, good luck eating here at all (unless you're a UH...

Not coming back after last evening incident. Basically yesterday between 6-7pm I went and made an order at Mcalister. The order I requested was a bit confusing and I explained to the cashier how I wanted it. She nodded and said I got what you mean I figured she understood my request. Although when I later recieved my meal my order was incorrect and I told them again how I would like it and even apologized for the confusion. Upon this point everything was fine until the third time a worker sent out the meal and it was correct but she wasnt friendly at all. I understand that I may have requested my meal customized to be difficult but it was quite simple. She should not have treated me rudely and I am a guest she should still serve me with a positive attitude instead of slamming the plate and giving me a nasty look. Not only that should I mention I brought an International student from Taiwan to eat with me at your location and she just basically just gave the worst impression ever. My friend ordered the same meal I had and the server basically gave her a nasty look as well. Terrible service...
