A group of 6 of us came to Meet Fresh after school, hungry and ready for a new experience. Coming in, we were pleasantly surprised by the chill atmosphere. The open layout was great for conversation, and the decor was very cute—we especially loved the giant bear and traditional lanterns. The tables, chairs, and bathroom were also really clean. The restaurant is set up so that you order at a counter, and once your food is ready, you pick it up at the counter rather than being served. The woman at the counter was very nice and patient with all six of us and gave us buzzers to notify us when our food would be ready, but none of our dishes took longer than 5 minutes. We each ordered a different dish and shared among ourselves. The portion sizes were considerable, leaving us with leftovers by the end of our visit. The food was reasonably priced, and none of us exceeded $17. Overall, the group favorite was the Mango Milk Shaved Ice. The sweetness from the ice cream balanced well with the freshly chopped mangoes, and it was both delicious and really refreshing. The mangoes themselves were mixed in quality, with some being sour and others being good, but they didn’t detract too much from the dish as a whole. We also ordered the Hot Red Bean, Icy Grass Jelly, and Icy Taro Ball Signatures, which were less popular among the group. We all came to the consensus that the Hot Red Bean Signature was our least favorite, as the starchiness and pure red bean flavor were just too overwhelming for most of us. The Grass Jelly and Taro Ball Signatures were ok—not all of us were fond of the grass jelly, but that might just be because it has an acquired taste and it was our first time trying it. We did like the squishy texture of the taro balls. We would definitely recommend the Matcha Egg Waffle, as we enjoyed the crunchy exterior accompanied by the soft matcha interior. Lastly, we ordered the Mini Q Winter Melon Tea and the Fluffy Thai Tea. We found that the Fluffy Tea had more flair compared to the Winter Melon Tea, which tasted a bit bland and watered down. We would rate the food itself as 3/5, but we still had a great experience, and for the low price, good service, and convenience, we give Meet Fresh an overall...
Read moreMy favorite dessert and a new location. Had to come and try the other location since this is the best dessert in the entire world. Yes, I'm talking about the icy grass jelly signature. When it's hot out and you need a cool treat, this is it!
It might not be for everyone, but I would highly suggest to any coffee fans out there that this might be what you've been missing. I'm still trying to put my finger on it, as this is not a coffee dessert. There's just something about the shaved ice grass jelly that is so reminiscent of a coffee like flavor that I'm sure you'll agree once you try it.
I've reviewed the other location, so feel free to look for more details about my love of this place, and if you're not a fan of coffee, there are plenty of other options on the menu that might a more fruity / sweet palette on a hot summer day. I just wanted to give a quick shout out to this location as the they did an excellent job keeping up with my love of Meet Fresh. It's a bit smaller shop, but the menu is just as strong.
Strangely, there was a line out the door at a corn dog place a few shops down & I could think was, "they're lining up at the wrong place."
One quick note for a few of the negative reviews I read: You can't order shaved ice to go, I mean... you can, but this is Houston & it's hot outside. You've got to eat it right away. I have gotten it to go & sat in my car and eaten it during the pandemic, which was fine, the portion was a bit smaller, but this is a shaved ice dessert best served in...
Read moreJust ordered the strawberry smoothie without the melon jelly and reiterated that I wanted everything else. Paid $8.31 tip included. I was the only customer in the shop with 3 people behind the counter. When the order was ready both the cashier and I noticed that it had chunks of the jelly. He said something to the others and I reminded him that I ordered it without the jelly. The other girl proceeded to grab the drink and take it to the back with a large spoon. I then asked if they were going to make another one or just fish the chunks out. The cashier said she was taking the jelly out which in my opinion is poor customer service. Still the only customer, I requested to have a fresh one made since I didn’t want to find a random chunk of something I requested and paid not to have in it. They seemed irritated and the girl came back out to make me a new one. When the new drink was ready I tried to tell her thank you very much for accommodating but she immediately turned her back on me. When I got into the car and tasted it, not only did it not have the jelly, it didn’t have any flavor nor the strawberry jam that it should have. It was only blended milk with foam. I will never be going there again. Tiger sugar a couple doors down is a million...
