Update 6/5/22: According to management, guns are not allowed unless I have a license and can show it to them when asked. Although they say there is no judgement, it's hard to believe. Texas has the HB1927 law in effect which means I don't legally need a license to open carry. I guess I'll have to find another establishment that's gun friendly. It's unfortunate that I can't stay safe and eat tacos, you'd think with all the shootings that are happening more establishments would welcome safe, respectful gun carriers such as myself. Will be looking for another spot to make my main taco place and stop referring people. I'll probably go whenever I feel like concealing but as a female who doesn't drive and has to roam the streets and use the Metro, I will not sacrifice my safety at 6am in a sketchy neighborhood for the sake of tacos.
Really great selection of breakfast tacos! It really helps that they are open as early as 6:00 a.m., I really loved the freshness and the quality of their meats and their tortillas were awesome. I only eat flour so beware the flour tortillas were great, but I cannot say anything about the corn tortillas since I don't primarily eat corn. Overall a great experience and everybody was very friendly. Also gun friendly! I walked in with my droplet holster and I was not treated any differently, in fact I feel that the service was...
Read moreWhen I walked into Monchy, there was no host to greet us right away. I understand the host was busy with shift changes, but when she finally came to the front, she didn’t acknowledge us with a hello or explain how the ordering worked. We were confused about whether to sit down and get menus or order directly from the counter. At the hot counter, there were only three options available, and it gave the impression we were being offered leftovers rather than fresh choices.
Throughout our interaction, the host seemed more focused on finishing the shift change than on making sure we were comfortable or had what we needed. She never checked in to see if we required anything else, so I had to ask for every little thing. Unfortunately, there was little to no customer service during our visit.
As for the food, it was overly salty and honestly not very enjoyable. Between the lack of guidance, poor service, and disappointing food, my overall experience wasn’t great. I hope the restaurant can improve both customer service and food quality moving forward.

Read moreMonchy's Taco Spot is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Mexican cuisine. This cozy little spot, tucked away in a corner of town, serves up some of the best tacos I've ever had. What sets Monchy's apart from other taco places is their homemade tortillas. These tortillas are made fresh daily and add an extra layer of flavor and texture to the already delicious tacos.
The Tuesday special is a steal, offering $1 tacos from 11am to 1pm. It's a great way to try a variety of tacos without breaking the bank. And believe me, you'll want to try them all. The menu offers a wide selection of meats, from the traditional carne asada to the less common lengua (beef tongue). Each taco is topped with fresh cilantro and onions, and you can add salsa or guacamole to give it an extra kick.
But it's not just the tacos that are great at Monchy's.
Overall, I highly recommend Monchy's Taco Spot. The homemade tortillas alone are worth a visit, but the delicious food and affordable prices make it a must-try spot for any taco lover. Don't forget to stop by on Tuesdays for the $1...
