Ninfa's — Restaurant in Houston

We decided to stop by this place thinking we could get some good Tex-Mex and at first everything seemed fine, but our waiter had a hard time communicating what was on the menu. We asked for the special they had on fajitas for two for 20.99, which was front and center on their menu. The waiter asked if we wanted beef or chicken and I asked it was possible to get both and he said yes. So when he brought out our meal it did not look anything like the picture or the description on the front of the menu. There was no carne con queso, there was no bell peppers and and only a pinch of cheese for one fajita. Then I got someone else and showed her the menu and said we ordered this but it didn't come with what it said we got and she looked at our plates and asked well did you order the combo? I said he asked if we wanted chicken or beef, we asked if we could get both, he said yes and then brought us this, not saying it would be a totally different meal. She said with the combo you don't get the extra. So by that time I was getting upset because our waiter failed to mention this to us. So then we got our bill, and instead of it being 20.99 like it said on the menu, it ended up being 28.99, so at that point I asked to see the manager because I was beyond upset. The manager comes out and I explain how this waiter never informed us that it would be a totally different meal by asking if it was possible to get both chicken and beef for the special but Instead he just gave us a totally different meal, which was on some other page of the menu and came with less food but cost more and the manager then said there was no 20.99 special for fajitas, that it was flautas and it was only on Mondays. Now either the manager lied to us or his menu did because the special for fajitas is clear as day, front and center of their menu, with a picture of it right above what it is supposed to come with, which I made sure he saw as we left. I have never had such an incompetent waiter on top of a manager who flat out lied to a customer as did this older man. I will never go back to this place again or recommend this place, not because the food wasn't decent, but because our waiter was horrible and the manager...

Well what can I say I'm actually a cordon blue chef I used to manage a bunch of high-end steakhouses in Columbus Ohio but I really love Mexican food and I'm married to a Mexican girl and her mother makes the best tortillas ever and she said mine are almost as good as hers LOL but I have to say the tortillas here the beef the pork the chicken the tacos the beans the chips the salsas everything is outstanding and amazing I have been to thousands of Mexican restaurants all around United States and I have to say this is by far one of the finest Mexican food restaurants I've ever tried it's a wholesome environment it's a very lovely place even the bathrooms are very nice as well this is a great place to sit out side under the deck or inside the bar and the rest of the restaurant is absolutely huge there's so much room and so many places and a beautiful fountain in the back corridor there's nothing but great things to say and the service is amazing and our server what was our server Loly was absolutely amazing service first Class all the way friendly courteous and a great sense of humor she made our experience absolutely a wonderful day we were just down taking care of some boots that we had done at Jesse shoe repair does which also does amazing work and then we came over and find this place and it was just an amazing experience all the way around couldn't be happier I strongly recommend you come here the food is amazing the atmosphere is awesome and the people are friendly and courteous and easy going you can tell this is definitely a family establishment it's like going to your favorite Mexican...

We had a group of about 16 people. We were grateful to be accommodated and we were set up at front of restaurant. They begin to take our orders and all seemed well up until that point. The food began to arrive and they had food wrong for a few people in our group. One of the biggest mix ups is that they gave my husband who ordered quesadillas with carnitas the quesadillas with shrimp. He ended up not paying attention and bit into one piece. My husband is allergic to seafood. He was fine but the error was done and caused a bit of panic for that moment. The food was truly mediocre. The fajitas my daughter ordered were not good - tasted off and were rubbery. The tacos my sister ordered were cold. The chicken nuggets we got for my grand-daughters were cold. It was a lot of bringing out wrong items and/or giving to wrong person. At the end, we did have a few checks and we all paid. After we all reviewed, , we noticed double charges on a few checks. Mostly extra drinks - including double charging for one drink on a couple of checks. My mother had ordered a coke and paid for 1 coke, but she asked for a to go cup, the girl did not tell my mother anything and just charged her for another drink.
