The rumors are true — I *did* eat my lil cousins’ Halloween candy only so I could quietly watch them blame / bite each other. Also true are the rumors that Ploughman's Deli & Cafe may have the greatest sandwiches in all of Houston. When I saw that massive Reuben come outta the kitchen, it took all of my self-control to not jump up on my chair yelling the same thing my lil cousin Justin yelled on Halloween night: ā€œIM TAKING A BITE OUTTA YOU AND I DONT CARE IF I GET IN TIMEOUTā€. Corned beef tender enough to make you feel something on the inside again. Sour, salty, yet sweet sauerkraut reminded me of the first kiss with my now wife after 9th grade track practice. And a light, flavorful dressing to hold the whole sandwich, and my fragile life, together. My nonna would have absolutely loved it. She is still with us (lives in Thailand) and not Italian or anything (not sure she knows what a Reuben is). But she DOES love a beautiful meal, crafted with love, good enough to turn a group of strangers into family. My wife loved the Margherita sammy so much she took a tiny sliver of leftover bread and cheese togo because she was full but couldn’t bear to leave it behind. For our sides we went with the ginger slaw and pasta salad, both very solid options with the sun-dried tomato pasta salad probably being my favorite of the two. And to round out the evening, we had the Bread Pudding which caused a semi-serious argument on who got to have the last bite (I won but writing this review from the couch). Even better than the life changing food is the phenomenal staff that made us feel like family from the second we walked into the door. This is the kind of place and people I want to raise my kids around. Ploughman's doesn’t just sell food - they commit to serving an experience. As one wise, green philosopher might say: when it comes to flavor, "Do or do not; there is no try." And here, they definitely do.

First time here and I was blown away. I ordered the Roll the Hard Six sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. The roast beef was perfectly rare and tender, the ciabatta bread was fresh and had just the right chew, and all the toppings worked together beautifully. The sprouts and jalapeƱos gave it crunch and a little kick, the honey mustard spread added just the right sweetness, and the drizzle of red wine vinaigrette tied it all together. Every bite had layers of flavor. I paired it with the pesto pasta salad on the side garlic forward, balanced, and super tasty. The people working there were really friendly and clearly care about what they do. Since it was my first visit, they even gave me a sample of the poblano corn chowder, which was so good I already know I’ll be ordering it next time. Yes, it’s a bit on the pricier side, but honestly, everything is nowadays and here you’re paying for quality. The atmosphere is cool, the owners (I think that’s who they were) were great to chat with, and to top it all off I finished with a homemade chocolate chip cookie… soft, and delicious. This place is definitely worth checking out, and I’ll be back for sure.

I ended up at Ploughman’s Deli completely by chance while dropping my car off for service nearby. I was looking for lunch, and this little spot caught showed on my search. Let me just say, it turned out to be one of the best food surprises I’ve had in a while. I went with the roast beef sandwich, and it was absolutely unreal. The meat was so fresh and tender, like it had been slow-roasted that morning. The toppings were spot-on—crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and this amazing horseradish sauce that added just the right kick. And the sourdough bread? Perfectly toasted with that ideal balance of crunch and chew. Honestly, I’ve had a lot of sandwiches, but this one ranks alongside some of the best in the country. It’s the kind of meal that makes you stop and appreciate every bite. The place itself has a laid-back, no-frills vibe, and the staff was super friendly. It’s not fancy, but it doesn’t need to be—the food speaks for itself. If you’re in Houston and looking for a killer sandwich, Ploughman’s Deli is a must-try. I’m already planning my next visit to see what else they’ve got on the menu. Highly recommend!

Was very excited to eat here, my boss and my mechanic both highly recommend it. So this morning, I had my coffee but no breakfast because I knew I was going to come here and have an amazing lunch everyone keeps talking about.

The menu was very inviting. As it was cold out, my fiance and I each got the Hot Meatball Sandwich! Mine with a side of potato salad and her with butternut nut squash soup, we got a large choc chip cookie to split for desert.

It was a beautiful sandwich, cheese melting all down the bread, marinara smothering it! But as I chew my first bite, I notice a funny taste and a mushy texture to the meatball....as I slowly chew I realize it's raw. Like bloody pink raw taste! I take the next meatball iff the sandwich and cut it in half....and its raw as well. Next thing I know my fiance is coming into the room asking if my sandwich is raw af. I say yeah, I'm pretty grossed out, but I mentioned that we should try the soup and potato salad maybe it's an anomaly. The soup was very good, savory even. The potato salad was not. It was very weird, half cooked potatoes mixed with raw potatoes. The hard boiled eggs in the potato salad almost had a slimy texture and mixed with the hard, raw potatoes it was a very unsettling mouth feel.

All in all a very bad experience and kinda wished we had just went somewhere else, because I actually skipped breakfast so I could whole heartedly enjoy this meal, Doesn't help that we spent almost 50 dollars on it. Oh yeah, the...
