I was assaulted at pluckers {If Pluckers' policy is to discriminate, that's their prerogative. They have the right to discriminate and exclude individuals who appear different from the bartender. However, they should clearly display a sign stating that they have the right not to serve foreigners who look different from the bartender.] What a dreadful experience I had at Pluckers the other day that I've strongly advised my friends to avoid it altogether.
Let me tell you the story...
On Thursday evening, my partner and I visited Pluckers after a movie. We had enjoyed our previous visit so much that he even tried the spicy spicy sauce, which is known for its intense heat. To test it out, he downed two of the sauces, but surprisingly, he didn't feel a thing. We were exceptionally well-served by two Hispanic bar tenders who were incredibly attentive and friendly. They always made sure we were comfortable and asked if we needed anything. However, on our second visit, things took a turn for the worse. We approached the bar around 11 pm, and a white girl helped us. She looked at us, asked for our IDs, and seemed annoyed when I presented my California ID. My partner, who had a foreign ID since he was visiting, was also asked for his ID. Her face turned red with annoyance, and she abruptly took our IDs and walked towards the kitchen, which was located behind the bar. I was utterly perplexed by her actions. I've never encountered anyone taking my ID from me, except for officers or federal government officials. I couldn't comprehend why this person or Pluckers believed they could take my ID to the back without my consent. When she returned, she informed us that she couldn't serve us alcohol because the manager wasn't present. I couldn't help but question her reasoning. My ID is a state-issued document, far superior to any other ID in the nation. Additionally, my partner's passport was stamped by the immigration and federal government. She had two reasons for refusing to serve us: either she was being lazy and didn't want to serve us, or she was discriminating against us. I spoke to the manager {Kaitlyn} immediately after, and she confirmed that it was indeed a policy. I firmly asserted that she had no right to remove my ID from my personal space. Despite my protests, she took it away from me. I never allow anyone to do that. That's why I always use Apple Pay, but this girl came up, took an important document from my view, and then proceeded to finish with the manager. As I was speaking with the manager, I noticed three white men sitting down at the bar. She didn't ask them for an ID, and I could see it.
If Pluckers' policy is to discriminate, that's their prerogative. They have the right to discriminate and exclude individuals who appear different from the bartender. However, they should clearly display a sign stating that they have the right not to serve foreigners who look different from the bartender. Just fyi Pluckers.

Read moreThis pluckers has the worst service I've ever been to. My best friend and i (two younger patrons) came on 8/08 and sat at the bar. It was a Monday night.. they were not busy and the bar was maybe half full and every one had drinks and food already served. My friend and i sat at the bar for over 20 minutes... not a single word from the four people behind the bar. No greeting at all.
My friend and I kept looking at each other confused because they were not busy... they were cleaning glasses and chatting. I finally decided to say "excuse me" after being passed by multiple times around the bar, from different workers. The bartender somehow did not hear me the two times i said excuse me very loudly but the two people next to us heard and shot me a sorry look.
Finally, i looked at my friend and said I was going to be louder this time (maybe somehow he could not hear me in this very unbusy bar I've been sitting at for 25 minutes now. After I almost yelled at said "Hello sir excuse me" the young man behind the bar finally looked at me and acknowledged my existence with a "yes?" very confused. I told him we had been waiting for 25 minutes and before i could even finish my sentence a random worker had popped up next to me introducing themselves, and the young man behind the bar irritatedly walked away without a word. (thought bartenders served patrons at the bar but guess im wrong).
Our order was finally taken in a rushed fashion, our food came out almost 40 minutes later. we order 5 wings and a boneless meal. Nothing insane.
Now get this. You're going to love this.. the food comes out and it's cold to the touch. you can touch it and it wasn't even room temp at that point. I had to flag down the waiter after 10 minutes bc he never came back to check up on us. and while I flagged him down, he was across the bar asking me what I needed (as if I just needed something quick and nothing really worth attending to) and I kindly asked if I could please chat with him when he's not busy. He then rushed over and I told him it was cold, he looked at my plate for a second dumbfounded and I then said.. "you can feel it if you like" and then he put his finger on the chicken and felt it and nodded his head silently and took it away.
Then, another 25 minutes later, I get my dish back and gosh, it was actually lukewarm this time. we had been sitting at this dingy bar for over two hours on a Monday night. everyone around the bar that was there when we had first sat was completely gone.
Yet, tens of workers were seen in the restaurant, and barely a lick of service. my friend and I debated just paying and leaving but we both left a $1 tip. We were ultimately treated horribly by the bar just because we look like young college students. Pick absolutely any other pluckers franchise in the Houston area. we always have and never had a problem until...
Read moreThe last few times I have came to this location haven't been a great experience. I came here the day before memorial day, and I got severe food poisoning the next day. I figured out it was pluckers, because I was the only person in my household who had food poisoning and my meal from pluckers was the only thing I had that was different from my family.
I came here again on June 5th, because some friends wanted to go to trivia. However, I was a little nervous to have another meal from here so close to my food poisoning experience. I ordered the buffalo chicken bites and they came out cold. I waited to get the servers attention and I politely asked if they could be remade. I hate being the type of person to send their food back, but they weren't good and I didn't want to risk getting food poisoning again. They took about 20 minutes to come out with meal again. This time the chicken was slightly warmer and doused in a disgusting amount of sauce. I love having saucy food, but it was wayyyyy too much. The chicken was luke warm and was definitely not in that safe chicken temperature zone. I think that they just put some warm sauce on top of my chicken to heat it up, or it had been sitting there for a while. I didn't eat the food, and I had the server take it away. I wasn't going to say anything, but the server asked if it was still cold. The manager came a few minutes later and apologized. Later my boyfriend asked what the pluckers member special was and the server had told us it was the fried Oreos. So we ordered that. When it came time to have the bill, the server told me the chicken was comped and I paid, although I was confused because the price was so high. I tipped the server 20% regardless of the chicken fiasco.
My boyfriend asked what we were charged for a few minutes later. We had scanned our code for the membership before paying, but for whatever reason it didn't redeem the free fried Oreos. The server didn't say anything about it until we asked, but it seems like common sense since we had already asked what the special was and scanned the code. She caught an attitude when we asked about it and said that the manager would take it off. We waited another long while and figured that he was just gonna go into the system and change the bill before closing. It's been a few days and the charge on my card never changed.
Overall super disappointed in my experience coming here the past 3 or 4 times, and definitely won't be returning to...
