After having been to a restaurant that had a very similar name, my GF was drawn to giving Tacos La Balita a try. Walking in, the dining room is split into 2 areas, each pretty small. The staff is very friendly and said hi as soon as we entered. We actually ate here 2 times in 2 days, it was that good. The first time we ordered 2 chicken & egg tacos, 4 beef "street" tacos with cilantro and onion & 2 tacos al pastor. My GF loved the al pastor so much we went back the next day, again. I enjoyed the beef tacos the most, day 1, and I ordered the Chiliquiles, day 2. The Chiliquilies were delicious. I got it with green sauce and eggs over medium and I would highly recommend that dish as my favorite. My GF got tacos the second day, but ended up sharing my chilaquiles, the dish was that good. Lady's waitress got this look on there face like the customers are the issue... failed miserably on acknowledging that customers at door or trying to pay or picking up an order... I lived in Alief & on this block longer than this establishment has existed... not spending my money ever again here... worthless staff they dont care... only when they first opened do I remember staff smiling n greeting u as u walked in... dont know if new management but the waitress staff sucks simply put... Good food but won't be coming back... hope management reads reviews... totally disappointed on what this place has become... Everyone try "la Union" on wilcrest n bissonnet... great food great prices n friendly staff.... wish I could negative stars but...
Read moreBathrooms always seem ready to overflow and are dirty. There’s nott enough meat in their caldos and it’s mostly bones. And the cashier at the time (waitresses shift around) , didn’t give me the right change. She quickly threw the receipt away and when I asked for it, I noticed the change given back to me was 16 cents short. If I had been short of the money owed, I’m sure they wouldn’t be ok with it. So, I went back up to ask for my correct change since it wasn’t just a few cents. I went back to my table and heard my waitress making fun of me for asking for my rightful change back. So, not only do they try cheating you of your change, but then ridiculous you for asking for it. There’s too many taquerias in Houston for them to treat good customers like that.
