I am giving this establishment 2 stars only because the server was super sweet! My friend and I came for lunch and were having a great time talking after we finished our food. We saw a lot of empty tables so did not feel like we needed to rush. However, we noticed a certain server/hostess glaring at us rudely. She came over later and brusquely asked if I was done with my drink and snatched it up quickly when is said “yes.” Then, I notice four workers glaring at us from behind the counter. If you needed the table, they could have simply let us know. But as the only Black people in the place, this experience was very unpleasant. At that note, I told my friend we should leave even though I don’t like driving so quickly after drinking alcohol. As I was paying for my food, the person who had been rudest asked if “everything was okay.” At that point, I had had enough and did not want to cause a scene but my face must have shown it all. The server was really sweet, but the rest of staff really soured my whole experience. I worked in food service when I was in college and always noticed how servers talked about Black customers and did not want them to be seated in their section for whatever reason (usually because we supposedly don’t tip, but in a lot of cultures tipping is actually rude and really no restaurant should be relying on voluntary tips to pay their workers anyway, but I digress). Anyway, I really appreciate the server and the food was good, but I will not be coming back here. I can’t read their minds, unfortunately, so because of the world we live in, I...
Read moreRecently ordered a bulk order for my office via GrubHub and was pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of the food from this place!!! The presentation of the Parrillada El Charro (beef and chicken fajitas and grilled shrimp) was wonderful in a large tray, and the beans and rice were nicely packaged for delivery. The Charro beans were fantastic and flavorful!!! There were pieces of sausage and pork rinds/chicharrónes in the beans, making it more like a bean stew with exquisitely flavored broth! The beef and chicken fajitas were cooked and sliced at the perfect thickness, and there was a lot of it!!! The shrimp were good sized as well and so very tasty! This taqueria uses quality ingredients to ensure that the food is delicious! Both the flour and corn tortillas were perfectly sized and yummy for the fajitas and barbacoa. Everyone in the office devoured the barbacoa because it was so tender and flavorful! There was a minor glitch with the delivery via GrubHub because the guac, pico, and lettuce/tomato salad was left, but the restaurant was accommodating and fixed the problem easily! The guacamole was absolutely delicious and worth driving to go get it! I would highly recommend this hole-in-the wall restaurant for its...
Read moreI usually not make comments about restaurants because I know even with recipes the food can't taste the same all the time. However i came to this restaurant often but never pay attention to my bill till today that I see they charge me $3.99 for one lime means 4 wedges 60% to 75% of 1 lime when I ask the lady about the charges she says that I make my own lemonade and they sell lemonade, I don't like the lemonade of none one taqueria in houston because the way they make it, I make my lemonade just with enough flavor to my taste is why I don't buy pre made lemonade , if I get to make 2 lemonades with their lemonade are they going to charge me for 2.because sometimes my wife split them because either too sweet or too strong. The problem isn't about the money , the problem is they should tell the customer and then is up to the customer if they wanted to pay...
