I’ve been trying out some new food spots lately, and Lo Banh Mi is one that stood out. I sorta like this place — in a good way. It’s clean, the vibe is simple but inviting, and you can tell they care about the quality of what they’re serving. The ingredients taste fresh, and the sandwiches have good flavor overall. It feels like they’re aiming to get it right, which I appreciate.
That said, they’re still new, and you can tell they’re working through some growing pains. The biggest thing I noticed is the wait time — expect your order to take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes, even if it’s not super busy. I ordered eight sandwiches and it definitely wasn’t a quick grab-and-go situation. So if you're short on time or ordering for a group, just be prepared.
Another hiccup: I specifically asked for the veggies to be separated out for each sandwich, and instead of putting them in eight separate bags, they grouped them into just three. It might not sound like a big deal, but it was kind of annoying because the sandwiches were meant to go to different people in different locations. They seemed to assume everything would be eaten together, which wasn’t the case. It made the whole process of distributing the food a bit more chaotic than it needed to be.
Still, I see potential here. The food is solid and the place is clean — those are great starting points. If they can tighten up their workflow and start paying more attention to customer requests, I think Lo Banh Mi could turn into a local favorite. I’ll probably give them another shot down the line to see how...
Read moreMy husband brought home 3 banh mi and a Vietnamese coffee. We had banh mi heo quay (roasted pig), thit nuong (grilled pork), and thap cam (combination). The banh mi is 5/5. The bread was crispy on the outside and the soft in the inside. The roasted pig had good flavor and with some crispy skin (although there wasn't much skin in there if you care about that). The grilled pork was flavorful with lemongrass and was slightly saucy; it wasn't dry at all. The thap cam had a variety of different cold cuts which is always a good sign. The amount of meat in the banh mi's was not lacking and had good ratios of everything! The cost for each banh mi was about $5.50 which was very reasonable. Everything seemed fresh and house made.
The Vietnamese iced coffee was a bit disappointing though. It was a very small cup with a dark colored coffee for $5. The flavor of it was a bit off and slightly acidic which doesn't make it seem like the typical Vietnamese coffee? Maybe it's the coffee ground that was used that just wasn't my style.
Overall, we were pretty happy with the quality of the sandwiches and would come back...
Read moreI drove from 40 mins from Tomball cause I was craving banh mi. I saw Banhmi Co. on YouTube and wanted to give it a try. I was recommemd to try the roasted pork banh mi and the BMC (combination). The owner was very friendly with soft gentile speaking voice. The place was pretty packed but hardly any seat to eat if you want to dine in. It was a clean establishment.
Roasted pork banh mi - the bread was soft but not warm especially when I ate it there. The pork was a little on the saltier side and not crispy. Overall I give the sandwich 3.5.
BMC - same as the roasted pork, the bread was not warm. It was packed with cold cut. Only issue I had was the xíu mại. It was very mushy and tasted old like it was over a day old. If the xíu mại wasn't in it, then it would be better. 3
Vietnamese ice coffee - it wasn't strong and had to much of the condensed milk. I didn't taste the essence of the coffee. 2
Overall, it was an average banh mi. I know it is still new and in its grand opening phase. If they could make some adjustment then I could see them...
