Le Duc Gourmet Bakery — Restaurant in Houston

I had ordered a mocha rum cake days in advance for the day of my mothers birthday. After hearing so much about their bakery's cakes and trying the pandan kind previously, i wanted to try their mocha rum cake. The only thing good about the cake was how pretty it looked. Unfortunately, I got a cake that tasted like it was made yesterday. Usually asian cakes are not sweet and have a chiffon/soft texture to the bread part of tbe cake. The one I got, was dry, hard, and broke apart in crumbs as we cut the cake. It almost had the texture of an ice cream cake where as the whipped frosting itself was solidified. In devastation, I watched how disappointed my mother was eatting her birthday cake. I will not buy cakes from this bakery again and share these details with my friends. I got a cake from Le Duc Bakery due to their highly praised reputation and was given a cake that tasted like it was made yesterday and they just wrote on it. I would see that as acceptable in a grocery store cake, but not a bakery, especially, when i had ordered...

Don’t ever order cake for wedding, anniversary, or any special event they charge you depending on the event even same regular Birthday cake nothing special...for example if you buy a birthday cake 10 inches cost $30-$35 and 3 of them cost you about $100 (can have enough 50-60 people)but if you tell about your even like wedding, anniversary or any special occasion the cake won’t count per cake but they will charge you per person for event $3-$5 (300-500 per 100 people) and someone told me even more depending on how big your event and how special your event can cost up to $10 per person! I don’t believe it and come to ask for 3-4 separate cakes they won’t give me the price as the size I want they keep asking for my occasional event so they can call back and tell the price ! Not good for a moka rum came what happened to the baker asked for extra rum they replace with fake flavor imitation rum this came in a very satisfying look but no quality ingredients I discovered should be banned of using all.
