The Funnel Bar — Restaurant in Houston

Ok so let me start by saying I have been following the funnel bar on Instagram for a while and I have been DYING to try one of their funnel cakes but I didn’t want to drive super far because, to be honest, I’m lazy. This week I found out they’d be near my house so obviously I couldn’t wait to go and get one of their funnel cakes ASAP. I was a little worried because sometimes I hype things up in my head and set my expectations really high and then I’m disappointed. My expectations were sky high for this place and they exceeded them and then some. This was the best funnel cake I’ve ever had in my life. I would eat a funnel cake from here every day for the rest of my life if I could. This funnel cake was so good I called everyone in my immediate family to tell them about it. This funnel cake was so good I had to stop myself from getting in the car and going back for another one later in the afternoon.

We tried the big apple and the praline supreme which were both delicious but the big apple came with cheesecake bites which really pushed it over the top in my opinion. We got the regular size in each which, to be honest, was a little too much funnel cake but that didn’t stop us from eating every last bite. Earlier today I purchased a funnel cake and was given a buzzer. I was waiting in my car, which was parked on the other side of the parking lot, but still at a spot where I can see the food truck. As usual, I was waiting on my food to get done. The only thing difference was the wait time. After about 25 minutes I went up to the food truck to check in on the progress but it wasn't until I was right in front of the truck the buzzer went off. The guy at the window said in almost a joking way: "where you been?", the "buzzer been going off". After I informed him that it didn't go off at all while I was in my car, he responded: "that's too far". That's the part that rubbed my the wrong way because there's no way for me to know that, especially when nobody told me. I told him that I wasn't informed about the range limit and he just said "that's alright". He did end up making me a whole new funnel cake and I appreciate that. I was in line after I felt like the line went down, it was just me and my 1yr old twins in a stroller. One person was ahead of me, when I was next I was told they where closed. It was 9pm on the dot. I asked if they had any extra anything, I was told no and that they are closed. So I walked away and put my kids in the car. It was a man behind me, he stated "I just drove 30 minutes for this". I was parked right next to food truck. They served the guy that was behind me and not me! I walked back up to complain and I asked why I wasn't served but he was!?? There was no answer!! As a black woman trying to support black owned businesses this was soooooo unacceptable. The lady that was in front of me was waiting on her order when I went to complain and she stated "they told you they were closed but helped the man that was behind you".
