Hello, I'm NK and I'm going to describe my personal experience with this Thuan Kieu Com Tam. I hope to provide an honest and helpful review for those who want to know more about this place.

When you enter, you'll see a pretty spacious area with many different tables, big and small. The atmosphere of the place is pretty relaxed with casual group conversations among the bigger families, but the place may have a certain strange smell sometimes. The noise here is fairly quiet but possibly a little louder during their Lunch,Dinner, or Peak hours.

Now, the food here could be described in many ways. I've been here twice with 5 of my friends as we ate many different dishes. I asked my friends for a vivid and honest description for each of their dishes as I analyzed my own with excitement. As for the food, they have pretty good Com Tam, but the other dishes we tried (Bun Bo Hue/Hu Tieu Xao/Pho) were pretty average considering quality and flavor.

The variety here is pretty good, they have broken rice, fried rice, vermicelli, flat noodles, noodle soup, beef, pork, sauces, and much more. Some of their dishes also come with little snacks to eat with the main meal, such as EggRolls, Vegi, or Fried Shrimp thingy.

The service here is pretty average, they only came once to check on us and refill the water. The prices here are also pretty normal for restaurant food, maybe a little lower depending on what you get.

Recommendations: Com Tam (Broken Rice) with pork, comes with Egg, Vegi, and other stuff.

Signed NK...

Whenever I'm craving com tam this is my usual spot. They are fairly priced and the com tam is good. I came in today and placed an to go order, which I was told would be a 15-minute wait. 30 minutes later I still don't have my food. When I walked up to the counter and asked how much longer, I was told that my last order is being made and should be done soon. 10 minutes later I still didn't have the last dish I ordered. Yet again I asked about my food and was informed that my order is being made right now. I told the worker you told me that 10 minutes ago and that dish does not take that long to make, so go ahead and cancel that last dish since it's taking too long. The worker went into the back to check up on the dish and told me it would be just one more minute. I got the last dish shortly afterwards, they apologized, and I left peacefully. By the way, as I was sitting there waiting I saw that exact dish leave the kitchen twice for the dine in customers.

I don't appreciate being put on the back burner to the dine-in customers and lied to. There was literally a table that showed up AFTER I placed my order, they ordered, ate, paid, and left all before I got my to-go food. A to-go order shouldn't have a wait time of 45 minutes. There are many other com tam places on Bellaire that I can give my money to (which I will do moving forward.) What a...

We heard that it was good so we drove a bit extra to try. The food was borderline extremely salty. I ordered fried rice with salted fish and it was salty to the point my mouth tingles. The side soups that came with the rice plates that others got was salted to the level of sauce. No one consumed the soup. We are not low sodium eaters. Who ever was cooking that day needs to leave. Presentation is all good, but the taste is bad. I took the rice to go and added 2/3 of it in white rice in order for it to be good. Everyone was too tired to addressed the problem, we just ate it so we can go. Additional star because they were semi busy with only 2 people. Very disappointed by the food salt content. PS: I'm a trained International Chef, and I didn't want to mention that. But with the reply I feel the need to now, the fried rice had over 1600mg per serving of salt, past the level you would find in say a canned potted meats. The complaint was courteous, because the truth was worse. 4 years food creation, 9 years Sous, 16 years of cooking experience. On a sincere note: Watch how your cook makes food. We are not low...

It is authentic Vietnamese food. It is fresh, bursting with color and flavor. The tofu was perfectly cooked. Beautiful toasted brown on the outside and soft on the inside. It is a busy place, and it is filled with local residents. It is filled with laughter and noise. Family oriented. I had the flamed tofu and my hubby had the flamed beef. It came with a monster size bowl of rice! The beef was deliciously seasoned. The food was presented nicely. I highly recommend. The only issue we found was there is a bit of a wait because it is busy, but it is worth it. The food was cheap. It is a hole in the wall that is worth a few visits.

Ordered for take out - food phenomenal and packaged well so no leaks or spills. Only issue I had was ordering online vs calling the restaurant to place the order (which 1 in 5 attempts they will pick up). Call the restaurant to place your order and SAVE $50! Yes what I was charged online was about $50 more than the receipt stapled onto my to go order! Don’t use the website online order (Menufy)… I understand that some fees are expected to keep the website running but $50?? Compare prices in picture below (excluding tips and convenience fees) to the prices on the menu at the restaurant.

Had an overall good experience, with nothing to complain about! The food portions were large and extremely well flavored compared to other Vietnamese food places. The service was a bit slow and difficult to understand, but was otherwise responsive and helpful. Lots of seating available, and lots of options of all traditional Vietnamese dishes. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to try authentic viet food. They also have good iced coffee, and the dish I had (highly recommend) was the Sliced Pork Rice Plate (Com Thit Nuong), but all the food options are good.
